Amber warning issued.
Please bump this and keep it bumped.

Large hail possible. Up to 4cm in diameter. If you are in the area, ensure you move indoors if storms arrive. You might want to protect delicate plants. This size hail, if it develops is enough to put dents into things and possibly to smash greenhouse windows.

If you experience large hail, please can you submit photographs with a ruler next to it.

Flash flooding is also very likely in places.

Ooo exciting, just heard the faintest rumble.

GloriaSmud · 12/06/2023 17:09

We've gone from edge of the front above our house to dark clouds/wind getting up in about 40 minutes here (Leicester) I've got the washing in and moved our hanging baskets.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2023 17:12

Rainfall rates are very high from this. 30mm in half an hour seen near Bletchley.

Same here @GloriaSmud all washing hurried in and hatches battened. It's so much cooler already.

MyGrandmaLizzie · 12/06/2023 17:14

North West London. We've had 2 storms today. First one to north of us and one now to the south of us, now heading to western side of M25.

BeggyMitchell · 12/06/2023 17:16

Just got very windy & i can hear distant rumbles - central Manchester

CosmosQueen · 12/06/2023 17:17

We’re just north of Bath and despite lots of thunder earlier we’ve only had a few spots of rain. It looks like plenty over Swindon or Bristol. Very disappointed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2023 17:17

I am having to live vicariously from all your posts. Though I would not want large hail.

I've just driven home from work on the a46 and got caught in it. It was quite scary. Really, really heavy rain and hailstones. Visibility was terrible and flash flooding in places.

Am home now and the sun's coming out

The Met Office are evolving their warning as the situation develops.

North Bucks here, had a couple hours of thunder, lightning and heavy rain , moving through now

CandyCaneLane0 · 12/06/2023 17:29

Storm's finally hit Nottingham

BIWI · 12/06/2023 17:30

Another one in SW London!

Around 4.15 through to 5, loads of thunder which just kept rumbling and rumbling. Some flashes of lightning. Heavy rain, but no hail.

Tulipvase · 12/06/2023 17:31

Few rumbles of thunder in south Oxfordshire about an hour ago. Nothing compared to last nights storm.

Ineedwinenow · 12/06/2023 17:32

Update on Derbyshire we now have thunder and rain! It’s fairly heavy 👍 looks like I won’t need to water the garden tonight woohoo

ignatiusjreilly · 12/06/2023 17:33

The hail was quite big here in West London... about 2cm diameter.

recsw · 12/06/2023 17:34

SW London here (Sutton) and about an hour ago had 15 minutes of heavy rain turning into hail - I would say about 1cm in diameter. Sun just beginning to come out again now, but still occasional rumbles of thunder

GloriaSmud · 12/06/2023 17:37

Has just arrived here (Leicester)

Neilsfavouritechilli · 12/06/2023 17:37

We are storming in North Leicestershire. Thunder, lightening, heavy rain. No Bbq (sad face) but watering is sorted.

Bennyjoon · 12/06/2023 17:38

I love a thunderstorm. Nothing happening in South Cambs though. It’ll probably miss us, usually does.

TheMousePipes · 12/06/2023 17:38

Solihull - it’s just started to absolutely piss it down after an exceptionally sultry afternoon. Happily, we put the guinea pigs back in their house before it got going .

Birmingham here, the wind has just got up and it's starting to go dark

CharlotteRose90 · 12/06/2023 17:40

I’m in Manchester and we’ve had nothing but sun all day. I’m desperate for some rain so I don’t have to keep watering my garden.

ScottBakula · 12/06/2023 17:44

We had about 60 seconds of very heavy rain in Manchester about 5.15 but nothing now.

CrepuscularCritter · 12/06/2023 17:47

Rumbling here in the West Midlands. Can't see much except a bit of sky as I'm flat in a hospital bed, but no clattering of hail on the roof so far.
