I am a bit concerned about this one. Widespread gusts to 60mph, but reaching 80mph in parts of the NE. Winds from a NW direction will bring down more trees than you would expect for this level of gusts as it is an unusual direction.

Looks like it is heading for Glasgow

They’ve definitely changed ends at Manchester …Ryanair had one go around and then their next one got in so it looks to me as if it’s a case of crews being lucky (or not) with the gusts, or lack of them at the critical moment.

Pretty wild in Fife. Hope everyone is staying safe.

Tyne & Wear Metro has ended service with immediate effect. Must be expecting things to get worse tonight!

Few miles south in Durham City and winds peak after 1am, here. I think the issue for the metro is the debris. Said they need to inspect the lines before re-opening, in the morning.

The full on Narnia that fell has now dampened down a little as it’s turned to sleet. The wind is still wild and I’m not in the red zone. Feel for those of you who are.

Woke up about half an hour ago thinking the worst was over, now its gale force again! At least it's stopped snowing. (Co. Durham).

DD was going out for a meal with friends in Newcastle this evening. I hope they got back safely. They usually get the metro. It's a bit of a trek back to Jesmond in this weather if they have to walk.

I am near Newcastle Coast based. Absolutely terrified. Sounds like tiles from my roof are being blown about. I've came in to my dd7 bedroom to make sure she is safe.

Very noisy here and street lights/furniture knocking and banging. South Lakes. Meant to be our big festival today and Sunday.

Sounded really bad about 11 pm here in the W MIDs. Bit quieter , for now.

There is something on the drive.. watched a car drive round something but what it is is hidden behind the garages. High enough to see the cars but not the right angle to see the ground.

We've also had flickering lights and internal doors creaking open. Sounded like roaring before. I think the wind is picking up again..

It's moved south we are near Durham/Darlington I woke up at 00:30 thanks to something going bang and it was clear. Just looked out and we have a covering of snow

By heck it has picked up again here (S tyneside). Worstwinds I can remember.

North East region. Does anyone know when this passes us or will settle? Its been hours of continuous noise. Just seems to be getting worse.
