I am a bit concerned about this one. Widespread gusts to 60mph, but reaching 80mph in parts of the NE. Winds from a NW direction will bring down more trees than you would expect for this level of gusts as it is an unusual direction.

And that's our power off. Looking at the map, we may be waiting a while for it to come back.

MsEmmeline · 27/11/2021 03:10

Oh no, @Bobbobbobbing. What map are you looking at? Ours keeps flickering.

Bobbobbobbing · 27/11/2021 03:18

Northern powergrid www.northernpowergrid.com/power-cuts They are definitely going to be busy!

Athrawes · 27/11/2021 03:18

I thought it was a nice baby name

MsEmmeline · 27/11/2021 03:25

Thanks, Bobbobbobbing.

SpringCrocus · 27/11/2021 03:33

South W here. V v wild and windy, lights flickering, trees down on our farm and on the lane. Too wild to go clear the lane in safety. DD meant to be on train heading N on Sunday. Suspect that might not happen

muldersspeedos · 27/11/2021 03:46

Edge of the peaks on the Cheshire/Manchester border and it's very windy and snowing. Snow has stuck to cars but not the road.

Bobbobbobbing · 27/11/2021 03:49

Eek. According to the local fb page, our power is out because the gable end of a house has collapsed. Theres also live electrical cable lying across the road.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 27/11/2021 04:12

The dog has just got me as he needed to go out. Never done that before. Think the wind must be upsetting him.

Palosverdesblue · 27/11/2021 04:20

Lots of snow here, the wind is picking up.

Ilovemycatsomuch · 27/11/2021 04:27

I'm in the South West. It's very windy. I'm feeling very cosy indoors listening to the wild wind out there!

But, I have a very close friend who is currently visiting family on the east coast of Scotland (fife area) Can anyone tell me how things are going along there? The weather reports don't seem too bad, which is good. She has some sad things to deal with and I just don't want this storm to make anything more difficult for her 😢

Ilovemycatsomuch · 27/11/2021 04:31

@AnneShirleysNewDress how are things in Fife now? Really hoping my friends visit is not impacted by the storm.

Rowgtfc72 · 27/11/2021 04:45

Hail hitting the window has just woken me up. I'm normally up for work at this time mon- fri but not at a weekend.
Not a huge fan of windy weather ( that's an understatement!)
We're Cleethorpes, very much east coast. And it's baltic out there!

EmpressGrey · 27/11/2021 04:46

@november90

If anyone wants any insurance advice then just let me know! I've worked in home claims for nearly ten years!
Absolutely terrifying night in Exeter with the worst winds I can remember since the hurricane in 87. Heard glass smashing, thought it was an intruder. My nephew rang the police. Discovered it was a window at the very top of what is a Georgian house. We've closed the door on it until the morning. What do we need to do november90? Take photos of it as evidence for the insurance company before cleaning up?
dontletthemugglesgetyoudownn · 27/11/2021 05:59

We've just had a load of snow dumped

ListenLinda · 27/11/2021 06:15

Got a covering of snow in West Yorks, wind still going but not as fierce as last night. Hope everyone else is okay!

november90 · 27/11/2021 06:15

@EmpressGrey if your insurance is open today (which mostlikely will be) then ring up ASAP. But in the meantime do take lots of pictures and clean/make safe the area. What will happen is you will need to log your claim with them and they should send someone out as an emergency to secure/make safe/secure the property today.
Hope you're ok, that must've been a big shock for you all!

HighlandCowbag · 27/11/2021 06:43

Snowing here in South Yorkshire. Looks sticky as well. Cars tentatively going up the main road I can see from my house but local fb says cars stuck a bit further on.

Which is concerning because I have to get to the ponies 🙈. Have a 4 x 4 but it doesn't matter if there are cars blocking the way. Am not confident in snow so going to get dh to drop me off.

Also got a man booked in to clean my oven, an 18th birthday party this afternoon and friends coming for dinner later.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 27/11/2021 06:47

I also thought "oooo Arwen is such a pretty baby name, but a no to Storm" 😆

CallMeRisley · 27/11/2021 06:54

North East coast here. Trampoline is upside down and fence is flat. Lots of posts on local Facebook group about roof tiles and chimney pots being down, house and car windows being smashed (I can hear car alarms going off), fences and sheds, multiple trampolines and wheelie bins etc plus street signs and trees blown over- this one is in my area (not my photos). Hope everyone is safe.

I worked in home insurance in 1987. Top tip, take your coat off when you get in the office before you start or it won’t be coming off for hours !
ShinyHappyPoster · 27/11/2021 07:08

The weather report said wind here would die down at midnight but its still going strong. It's impossible to sleep, it's so noisy.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 27/11/2021 07:10

We've had snow overnight but thankfully it has gone now.

november90 · 27/11/2021 07:26

@Volterra hahah yes and boom as many Monday's off as possible over the winter 😰😰😰😰😰

reallysaying · 27/11/2021 07:29

We've got a fair bit of snow, and have a busy day out and about today.
Haven't had chance to see what damage the wind has done locally yet.
