Grin

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

There's some snow across the bay ...St Cyrus/Bervie ...that odd sort of patchwork where it seems to lie in some fields but not everywhere.
We have nothing on the ground here
It's windy and damp here, the weather station says 6.6 outside, clouds and rain and dropping pressure.
Yesterday was gorgeous, the frost laid all day and there were clear skies, just lovely.

Dh messaged and said the Queensferry Crossing is closed due to icy wire supports, so that'll be causing chaos nae doots.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 04/12/2020 09:15

ah...snow on the ground further down the coast too, the A92 was iffy and no gritters! (update from dh!)

Serve him right if he gets Snowed Out.

What a design screw up with the Queensferry Crossing....

What a design screw up with the Queensferry Crossing....

Isn't it just. The bridge built to ensure it can stay open in all weathers, closed due to standard Scottish weather 🙈

randomsabreuse · 04/12/2020 09:33

Lost most in overnight rain in low level East Dunbartonshire, Campsies clearly got more
snow though. If I were braver and didn't have a 2 year old I'd be investigating Crow Road up to the Stirlingshire border but I'm not that brave in potential ice!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 04/12/2020 09:34

yes, it's small consolation to know you won't get blown over, but you might have a giant icicle brick boinging through your windscreen.

Mumsnut · 04/12/2020 09:38

Bah humbug from
Surrey ! Not a single flake

On the plus side, it has stopped raining

Squiffany · 04/12/2020 09:42

@silkiecat

Wow, your house is so pretty.

No snow in my neck of the midlands yet, but it’s bloomin’ cold!

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 09:48

Thanks Squiffany Xmas Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2020 10:02

You know - the cool thing is, it's just the start of December and there is still plenty of potential showing in the ensembles Xmas Grin

I'm driving past Perth towards Edinburgh and it's really quite snowy! Feel like I've just driven into winter.

GloriaSmud · 04/12/2020 10:14

Qute a few snow reports here.
Bands of rain, sleet and snow showing up nicely here.

Nothing here (Leicester) - just dull and chilly - 3.7C

Updated weather warnings.

Leicester's under the snow warning - think it'll mostly end up being sleet though.

ShrikeAttack · 04/12/2020 14:14

Still coming!

BiddyPop · 04/12/2020 14:21

We had a heavy frost last night, but DH did say there was (heavy) sleet mixed in the rain we had this morning. (I tend to have my head down into my pc, sideways on and a couple of feet from the window with the curtain and wall being what's in my peripheral vision eyeline - whereas he is closer, his window extends more into his eyeline, and he spends more time on the phone so can look out a lot more than me....).

Never mind, I am still taking my Cub Scouts on a night hike tomorrow night [evil] Xmas Grin - they'll enjoy it!
