Snow watch

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

Despite that forecast 👆 we currently have microscopic snowflakes drifting down slowly. I'll be in and out of bed lamppost watching tonight, I know it.

Just thunder rain here in Edinburgh but the loudest and most unusual thunder ever. If I hadn't already been awake and saw the lightening the split second before the first crash I'd have thought there had been a huge explosion. The second one shook the whole house but with a eerie total silence i between - not like a normal storm where it rumbles on in the distance

I can hear a bit of rain over dhs snores. 2 mins to alarm...

Sounds very close Midnight hence the no rumble. Quite probably a cloud to ground.strike.

Woken up to a covering of snow in north Essex!!

darn it. Just rain at 2c. tbh, I didn't expect more, but I hoped.

DS just woke me up and said look outside. Lots of snow on our thatched roof and the ground. It's the silkie chickens first snow so I asked DS if his chickens were Ok. He said he thought they were fine and said he had just been to open their co-op.

We had a 76% chance of snow between 6 and 9..still waiting. Am grumpy. I want snow!!

Just started snowing in the fens. Settling despite a night and morning of hard rain

A smattering here on Romney Marsh in Kent but it's turned to wet and slush. By 9 I think it will have mostly disappeared and be just wet.

Wee bit in Banffshire this morning. Enough to offend the cat and send him running for his blanking at the thought of venturing out.

Niece in Cambridge has sent video of snow near Cambridge! We just, within past 5 mins had rain, then sleet and about 10 seconds of possibly snow and now it has all gone again
