Grin

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

All roads still clear here but the snow is horizontal. The ground is so wet (I think?) that it's struggling to settle but I still wouldn't want to be out and about in it. I think if it carries on like this we might get some drifts etc because of the wind. It seems to be starting to settle a little and I expect once the first covering is there it will settle more easily?

SquirmOfEels · 07/02/2021 08:48

London - sleety rain.

EventuallyDeleted · 07/02/2021 08:50

Just checking in as I am supposed to be travelling from one side of Surrey to the other this afternoon and not sure whether we will be going. Keeping a close eye on forecasts.

Abracadabra12345 · 07/02/2021 08:52

@BobGalaxy

I went to bed expecting heavy snow from 3am (going from the met office site) but woken up to nothing but wet :( there's some fine snow blowing around now, but nothing's sticking. South Essex.
Me too. SE here. I had fantasies of snowy walks and making a snowman (my neighbour said the same) and we woke up to..,,disappointment
MrsAudreyShapiro · 07/02/2021 08:57

Snow is just starting in north London. Snow and lots of wind.

I was disappointed when I woke up to nothing on the ground and nothing much happening Grin

MarinPrime · 07/02/2021 09:00

The DCs were disappointed not to wake up to the predicted snow but I was relieved. We don't cope with snow very well in coastal Essex, deliveries would be cancelled and Covid vaccines delayed.
Also all the walking areas are flooded or a sea of mud already.

MrsWombat · 07/02/2021 09:02

Tiny tiny snowflakes in my bit of SE London. Not settling either. The ground is very wet.

OublietteBravo · 07/02/2021 09:07

No snow here. But it was very wet overnight. It seems to have been raining more or less constantly since mid-December Sad

beenrumbled · 07/02/2021 09:09

Not expecting anything thanks to the Manchester Snow Shield

We did get a little a couple of weeks ago, but it only amounted to 1cm here Sad More than we have had for a while though.

bananaskin123 · 07/02/2021 09:09

No signs of snow here in Herts. Very cold wind but bright.

LIZS · 07/02/2021 09:11

Very windy here SE and fine snow starting to settle.

tapdancingmum · 07/02/2021 09:13

Went to bed last night with huge snowflakes falling and giving a covering on the grass and cars. Woke up this morning to nothing! Nice sunshine but the clouds are starting to build up. My forecast shows heavy snow from either 9am (nope), 11am or 3pm - looks like we are staying in anyway so let's see what happens. Quite windy here at the moment as well (Bucks)

megletthesecond · 07/02/2021 09:17

Nothing in Hampshire.
14yo DS was looking out the window commenting on the lack of snow with his sad face on.

Frouby · 07/02/2021 09:31

Had a brief flick of big fat flakes last night at about 11pm in South yorks but nothing has settled. Bitterly cold though. Forecast shows a couple of hours today, before a prolonged spell of snow tomorrow into Tuesday.

Can't see dh getting to Manchester Tuesday. Just hoping the nurse can get to work tomorrow to do his blood test! Worse case scenario he could walk up to the surgery but no good if no one there.

Onamissionnow · 07/02/2021 09:35

Nothing here in west sussex , we missed it last time as well. Was looking forward to just seeing something different .

However we are in the position that we have nothing planned and don't need to travel anywhere. Complete pain if you have to.

Hm2020 · 07/02/2021 09:39

Central London started snowing about an hour ago

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 07/02/2021 09:44

we have snow on the ground....only just, like someone has gone a bit wild with the flour dredger. More white than a heavy frost, but not really enough snow to claim snow iyswim.

We have had a fair few goes at sleety rain, and inland Angus has a fair covering, we were out earlier in the week to collect some stuff for the house and a fair few "winter wonderland" scenes were seen!

So so much rain though, lots of bad surface flooding on local roads across the county which is proving interesting as the temperature drops and quite a lot of dangerous road flooding reported too on the local FB road groups.

DH has his last night shift tonight...I keep teasing him about getting snowed out, he has taken some supplies to work just in case, so he won't starve!

FrankiesKnuckle · 07/02/2021 09:59

More washout than whiteout. W. Sussex.
Not sure which one of us is more disappointed, the adult or child!

DrunkenKoala · 07/02/2021 09:59

North Kent
Started snowing around 8 and was very fine for about an hour and then got heavier, some of the flakes look as big as 50p pieces and sticking now.

NotAQueef · 07/02/2021 10:35

North Essex here, started snowing very lightly (as in the teeniest flakes) a couple of hours ago, very windy, is settling well now, but accumulation slow, I’d say around 1.5cm atm.

Pennina · 07/02/2021 10:43

N London. Gritty fine snow (not settling) and sun trying to shine. Snow-bow?!

nannynick · 07/02/2021 10:44

Whilst out for a walk this morning in West Surrey I could see little flakes of snow in the air... really little.

LunaHeather · 07/02/2021 10:45

Happy to say it does not feel like -8.

No snow overnight. Gritty snow and rain.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 07/02/2021 11:02

Nothing. Absolutely gutted as it's my day off . Just tiny tiny flakes blowing in the wind

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 07/02/2021 11:08

I’m in west Kent and the snow is starting to come down heavier now. Starting to stick to the lawn and plants but not the patio and pavement.
