Grin

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

Morning Brew just checking in on my favourite thread on here Smile
Will Manchester manage to get a sprinkling of the white stuff this year?
Thanks Kitten and Glorias Xmas Smile

FourTeaFallOut · 27/11/2020 07:09

Ooooh, my Google weather says there is a small chance of snow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2020 19:25

There is potential showing for late next week. :D

Ooo yes. Mainly a 'high ground of UK but could be something wintry at lower levels' sort of thing, don't you think?

hoochymamgu · 28/11/2020 06:35

Yess! One snowflake for us at 7am. I will watch out of my window for it Grin

Notstayingup · 28/11/2020 06:38

Yay have found the snow thread i am hoping for a less wet and more cold winter - still talk fondly of the beast from the east in this house

BestIsWest · 28/11/2020 06:52

The beast from the east - the whole of Wales was under feet of snow, schools and workplaces were evacuated and our little town in the south of Wales didn’t have so much as a single snowflake. We were a little island of snowlessness. I’d like some this year please.

Pinkywoo · 28/11/2020 09:24

I loved the beast from the east, unfortunately the heating was out at work so we were behind the bar with snow boots and 100 layers, it was worth it for all that snow though!

FredtheFerret · 28/11/2020 20:29

Fingers crossed for snowy blizzards!

FredtheFerret · 28/11/2020 20:30

There's lots of holly berries on our tree, which is supposed to signal a hard winter, if that's anything more than an old wive's tale!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2020 20:32

Next Friday even some favoured low level spots in England could see a wintry flake or too, but it looks more like a northern hills affair.

Ooo, snow thread!

It's almost exactly 10 years since our massive amount of snow in 2010, we're in the lincolnshire wolds, I measured about 50cm in the non-drift areas!

@WhispersOfWickedness You're near me! I'm North Lincs.

Perihelion · 28/11/2020 23:36

Ha Whispers snow from 10 years ago popped up on my Facebook memories today.
And whispering...I've got snow in my forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week Grin, and it's 0C right now. Hello WinterGrinGrinGrin

nannynick · 29/11/2020 12:15

My mum (in Aberdeenshire) has just messaged me to say that snow is expected on Thurs/Fri. Nice to see that the Snow Watch is becoming more active. It's that time of year. I wonder if Southern England will get any early December snow like has happened in some past years.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/11/2020 12:22

Very cold & frosty in NE Scotland this morning. Beautiful clear blue skies. Would love snow for Christmas ❄🎄☃️

WhispersOfWickedness · 29/11/2020 22:18

Hello neighbour @FredtheFerret
I take it you're not also in lincolnshire, @Perihelion, we're a bit warmer than that this week (but not by much!) 🥶

TokyoSushi · 29/11/2020 22:18

Sleet has appeared on my forecast for Friday - it's a start!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2020 07:50

On Thursday we enter a colder, less stable pattern of weather.

Snow risk for Friday:
Perhaps snow for higher levels in much of Scotland (esp West) , parts of NW England and higher areas in northern Wales and NI.

Also potential for some brief snow tracking along southern England coastal counties.

Snow risk for Saturday:
The above northern areas and just perhaps the Chilterns briefly.

Areas outside of the above may see some brief flurries too.

I think there could be a fair few surprised people by early Friday morning. Temperatures remaining cold too. Not December 2010 cold, but certainly colder than recent Decembers.

Titsywoo · 30/11/2020 14:56

BBC are giving us heavy snow showers on Friday morning in East Surrey Grin. I'm guessing that is unlikely but it looks like it will be pretty chilly!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2020 14:57

Its certainly possible. A fairly low chance, but don't discount it.

FredtheFerret · 30/11/2020 18:57

@WhispersOfWickedness

Snow possible on the wolds by the end of this week! (Not much more than flurries, I suspect)

Sallycinnamum · 30/11/2020 19:05

Ooh I love these threads! Very excited about seeing a few flurries in the London suburbs.

cheeseybeans19 · 01/12/2020 07:08

My favourite thread! iPhone is teasing me with ❄️ for Friday and Saturday in Leicestershire, I would LOVE some proper snow this year 🎄❄️
