Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

First snow of the winter

First snow for us this year in my part of Cambridgeshire

First snow for us as well North Northants,, started at 11 am still going.
10 cm so far, forecast to carry on till 8 pm.

We had a good layer here in the outskirts of South London, falling between 10am and noon mostly. An inch or so on paved surfaces, maybe 2 inches on cars and flowerbeds, where it settled sooner.

Lovely to see local families out enjoying it. My sons (3 and 5) saw some children out in the road having a snowball fight just before we went outside and studied carefully so I got pelted the whole time we were out there! A fair bit of it has melted slowly over the afternoon but there are still a quite few patches here and there.

We have had another dusting this morning in Manchester. Probably about a cm.

Woke up to another layer . Getting boring now as it's horrible to walk to walk -5 through snow and ice.
We will all be moaning soon about how sweaty it is 🤞🏻

So my iPhone app is showing snow again for Saturday Sunday and Monday in Leicestershire and BBC weather also has a snow warning in place 😳 Anyone else expecting some this weekend?

Yes, cheeseybeans19 current weather warnings.
(I'm on the western edge of Leicester and think it could end up a bit like last Sunday, with it sitting right over us for several hours and giving us a good amount.)

I'm in Bucks on top of one of the hills in the Chilterns and my two weather guys I follow on FB are saying it could be interesting this weekend. Just need to get this band of rain gone first.

Just looked on my weather forecast after seeing this thread and it’s saying 100% chance of snow tomorrow yet it goes up to 11 not sure how that’s going to work hopefully it’s better then last weekends light dusting that starting raining a an hour later and washed it all away

I think the Manchester snow shield has well and truly been breached this winter.

Although yesterday my app was showing snow shower all day, and now its just gone cloudy and dry

We are desperate for more snow this weekend after having a lovely Sunday last week - and according to the iphone app we have 100% chance Saturday and Sunday. But the Met office and Accuweather don't even have a sniff of it!
So @OhYouBadBadKitten - as you are the proper oracle of the dark art that is snow watch please tell me if South Wales (Newport area) will get more snow this weekend!

Worcestershire calling. BBC weather are predicting heavy snow for 3 hours tomorrow morning. Met Office say sleet. Who shall I go with-I am going to go to work just before the BBC thinks the heavy snow will start!

Accuweather says rain.

BBC weather app is promising me heavy snow all day but I have learnt to ignore it

Do I put the snow shovel in the car?

Does anyone else keep checking their apps 😬 mine keeps changing back and forth from snow to nothing, really hopeful for snow as we enjoyed getting outside in it last Sunday ❄️⛄️ Any current insight @OhYouBadBadKitten@GloriaSmud ? I know you’re in the same area as me Gloria what do you think?

After 2pm tomorrow when I'm home from work is fine but it needs to be all gone by Monday morning please.

poorbuthappy - Think you'll mostly get rain but there might be some wintriness to it.

Sparklingbrook - think probably the same for you - mostly rain but could be some wintriness, especially over high ground.

cheeseybeans19 - the apps seem to be all over the place. I'm down for rain/sleet with the metoffice but heavy snow from 11am followed by light snow, with the BBC

Current weather warnings. Next week looks cold so fair chance of snow showers/heavy snow anywhere really.

Thank you @GloriaSmud, off I went to work at 6am with my shovel in the boot. It was pouring with rain, then it snowed really big flakes but nothing settled and now we're back to rain again. but as I came down the motorway they were salt spreading.
