Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.
The ECMWF shows quite an interesting scenario really.

Raining here on the Essex/Suffolk border and has been all day. It feels like the temperature has dropped in the last couple of hours although that may be because the wind has got up a bit.

Temperature's dropped in the last hour from 4.1C to 2.8C. Might get a flake or two this afternoon.

I think our incessant rain is starting to look a little bit sleety.

Snow forecast all gone from the SE as per usual. But that’s good for the vaccination roll out

Carnage here as well in south Yorkshire, apparently gritters didn't bother and altho it's only about 2 inch roads are absolutely horrendous, been gridlock on main road all day, bypass closed/blocked. Took dh 50 mins to get from Manchester then 2 hours to get from one side of town to another.

Temperature's 2.1C here (Leicester) and we have a sleety mix/few flakes of snow falling.

@ThomasHardyPerennial i’m about 7 miles from Leeds too. Roads have been awful, videos of buses stuck and cars having to be dug out. Think it’s stopped now

@ListenLinda my road was gritted about 5pm, has yours been done? I hope so! Fingers crossed it is all gone soon 😬

@ThomasHardyPerennial my road is too narrow but the main ring road near me has had a snow plough go up & down twice and the gritters 😁 hope it doesn’t freeze over too badly

another one reporting in from South Yorkshire. It snowed constantly form around 8am yesterday morning, until the evening. Roads were dire. I made it in to work at 8.30 (just 3 miles away thankfully), got sent home 2 hours later and only just made it back,then had to try to work from home. Worst thing was I then couldn't get for my COVID vaccination later in the afternoon - which was a 45 min drive away so not walkable(NHS frontline worker) It has been re-scheduled for this morning, but tbh it looks even worse out there and not even sure I can get off my road.
I have to get to work at least, so looks like an hours walk in the snow for me to start the day, and no vaccination
Whilst I normally love the snow, I would seriously like it to piss off now. Now is NOT the time. My dds friends grandparents also couldn't get for their vaccination yesterday which is just not good

Current view! Also hoping tomorrows precipitation falls as rain and not snow. Next week temp apparently goes up to 9°. Am a bit worried, am sure in 2010 we had a cold spell followed by a few days of mild weather followed by the beast. There is a few photos that pop up on my fb timeline of us brushing the ponies with just a long sleeved tshirt, commenting how mild it is. Then a week later photos of a 6 yr old dd up to her waist in snow.

In London and we now have a yellow warning for snow tomorrow. Will be watching the skies closely!

I've just been for a walk and it doesn't seem cold enough to settle, luckily.

I wonder how long it will last.

Already melting in Surrey. Two photos, 2 hours apart.

Not even enough to build a gathering of snow people.

We had a little covering in my bit of the Northern home counties but its already disappearing and raining on top. Its our first snow of winter though and I am ridiculously happy with it
