Snow watch

Might as well get going on this thread, though it is rather a tease at the moment.

The ECMWF model is hinting at the possibility of some much colder weather next week, perhaps bringing some snow to Scottish hills. BUT the met office are still going for quite a wild and wet affair instead.

Our local, amateur, usually very reliable weather man is keeping his eye on a possible sudden stratospheric warming. Any clarification and weather for dummies type explanation, *@OhYouBadBadKitten, @GloriaSmud*?

I think we are looking towards next Friday/Saturday for the next real chance of proper snow.

Snowing in North east

I am on standby at work from the last week of January. On that basis alone, I predict heavy snowfalls then!

It's snowing here again in Shropshire . Started off with icing sugar sprinkles and is now progressing onto bigger flakes. It's also noticably colder than yesterday when it rained.

Radio 4 mentioned a spell of colder weather coming soon but I missed the details.

Checked radar and a huge snow cloud blue coloured thingy coming our way this afternoon 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻❄️❄️❄️

It's snowing here! Quite heavily actually. Only been going properly about 30 minutes but it's already overwhelmed whatever grit may have been on the road, we're about 20m from the road so I can just hear the slush under the wheels. It would (should) have been gritted as it's one of the main roads into town, & on a long hill. Can't see the tops of hills opposite us at all, only trees that we can walk to in about 10 minutes.

A few fluffy flakes drifting down from a grey sky here in my corner of Greater Manchester.

Snow is heavier, now enough to give a dusting on the patio. I don't think it looks like it will last long, but some of the flakes are big.

I love watching snow fall when I don't have to go anywhere!

Snow this side too, I keep looking out of the window to smile at it! The last lot hasn't even quite melted.

Poor DP. He's snoozing on the sofa, only to be awoken with me screeching "IT'S SNOWING!" We're in Fife, right on the coast and only have tiny snowflakes, but it's a start and the sky looks promising. 🤞

We're on the Fife coast too, woke up to at most ten snowflakes falling this morning, and DS is going on about going sledging or skiing

Snow in South Yorkshire now - coming down quite heavily. Another wonderful excuse to not go for a run :)
