i'm just plonking this here, will be back later to fill in the details, but the Met Office have just named Storm Dennis for Sunday the 15th Feb.

In the mean time, here have a load of weather warnings including an amber for snow.

I was prepared for dennis after all. There was so much build up to last weekends storm, but this weekend felt a little less severe.
I've just been chasing my stool shed roof down the street, and there is alot of flooding in the area. The winds sound just as bad as last weekend and there is alot more rain. I just hope my garden fence survives, it's looking wobbly

Waitingfordennis · 16/02/2020 00:43

Hope everyone is ok, going to be a long night I fear BrewFlowersWine

SoleBizzz · 16/02/2020 00:45

Forecast for here says wind higher at 8pm later

Herefordholiday · 16/02/2020 00:51

Currently in an AirBnB on a girls' weekend away in Hereford. We had a loud banging on the door an hour ago and it was a flood warden telling us that the road was going to flood and that we needed to move our cars to a car park up the hill. He gave us flood parking permits to put in the cars.

He's advised us to stay put for now but that the house will almost definitely flood tomorrow and they will come and get us out with a boat Confused

We were supposed to be here until Monday but have packed most of our stuff ready to make a quick getaway if needed tomorrow.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2020 00:59

hope you have left your stuffupstairs?

could you move any of their stuff up the stairs too?

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2020 01:00

it is blustery here too. (also w mids) more so than earlier, or perhaps as it is quieter now everyone around and about is quiet.

SoleBizzz · 16/02/2020 01:00

Shock blimey Hereford Will you you sleep tonight?

BagpussAteMyHomework · 16/02/2020 01:01

Gosh Hereford. I hope you are all safe.

Wind has got up again in London.

Herefordholiday · 16/02/2020 01:06

Yes, we've moved our stuff upstairs. Called the contact number we had to let them know the situation but it wasn't the owner and they seemed clueless.

There's not really much of the owner's that we could move upstairs other than the television which is on quite a high stand.

No idea if I'll be able to get home. Other friends drove here but I came on the train.

torthecatlady · 16/02/2020 01:32

@Herefordholiday I'm wondering if I'll be getting a knock on the door too and I'm not sure how much sleep I'll be getting tonight. Our council put a post of Facebook saying we need to be prepared for evacuation.

I'm in South Wales. We have the River Taff at the bottom of our terraced street... I'm about 6 houses away from it, when I last checked it was getting pretty high. Plus we haven't seen one of our cats since yesterday morning Sad

MummySharn · 16/02/2020 01:35

Lots of wind and rain here (near Birmingham), woke both the DC up so they’re in with me. Will be a long night

Raindancer411 · 16/02/2020 03:56

Well it's keeping me awake in Kent. Wind seems worse than ciara!!

BlackeyedSusan · 16/02/2020 03:58

Bloody hell. Getting pressure washered again. Can see the waves of rain on the street. Gutter sounds like a stream. It is not supposed to since it was lined. Must be very full.

Also what sounded like the distant rumble of thunder

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 04:00

Something popped up on my phone about a teen being killed when Dennis became an exploding bomb or something. Didn't click into it

NoSharon · 16/02/2020 04:01

He's advised us to stay put for now but that the house will almost definitely flood tomorrow and they will come and get us out with a boat confused

Wouldn't it be easier to evacuate now, rather than waiting to have to be rescued by a boat?

MsJaneAusten · 16/02/2020 04:05

I’ve just been out to check and and our sandbags are holding. The rain is hurtling down again though. Anxious night.

Neome · 16/02/2020 04:33

I'd be very grateful for advice on my planned drive from the Sussex coast to the futher end of Cornwall on Monday, is this realistic/wise?

I usually go along the coast but I'm wondering if ->M25 ->M3 ->etc would be safer?

glenhaggis · 16/02/2020 04:51

A lot of roads are flooded so probably not.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 16/02/2020 05:05

South East London/Kent borders (by skin of is teeth)

Been woken up so many times by the wind I have got up .Seems to be strengthening a bit now , Raining but not lashing at the windows.

How are others faring in these early hours of the morning?

Magissa · 16/02/2020 05:18

West London. Been awake for an hour listening to our windows rattling and gusts of wind causing banging and clattering.

Waitingfordennis · 16/02/2020 05:20

Thinking of everyone xx just very windy in Northamptonshire.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 16/02/2020 05:25

I am just glad I ordered new window handles and locks that arrived on Saturday . Can now close them properly or I would have genuinely feared for the windows during tonight /this morning.

Bowerbird5 · 16/02/2020 05:41

Awake with the wind and rain battering the window. Only one exit just passable in our village the rest of the roads are flooded. The river burst it’s banks last weekend and is rising. Luckily we live at the top of the hill. It was getting near the house at the bottoms garage. Our shed usually gets flooded but we’ve had a new path put in during the week so fingers crossed that it redirects the water and doesn’t flood. The whole county is on flood alert several villages flooded in places. River heights up and it is still raining. Keep safe everyone.

Rowgtfc72 · 16/02/2020 06:33

Woken up to no wind on the east coast but lots of rain. Rain forecast till 2pm.
Hope everyone is warm, dry and safe.

AmelieTaylor · 16/02/2020 06:58

@Herefordholiday that’s a girls weekend away you won’t forget in a hurry!

@mogloveseggs how is DD getting on?

Too many people to name check everyone - but I hope you’re all ok & it wasn’t as bad overnight as some of you feared.

(Central South East) The rain is horizontal here. I have a street light outside the bedroom window (thank you council 🙄🤬) sodding annoying most of the time, but occasionally, at times like these, it’s handy to watch the rain or snow!

Luckily I don’t have to go anywhere today.
