i'm just plonking this here, will be back later to fill in the details, but the Met Office have just named Storm Dennis for Sunday the 15th Feb.

In the mean time, here have a load of weather warnings including an amber for snow.

@WreckTangled 😖. That’s some water!

@Frouby it’s definitely not worth adding more traffic to the roads for a trip to ikea!

@DartmoorDoughnut there’s no way I’d be doing that trip today & definitely not with kids in the car.

Worrying for South Wales etc. Seems odd they missed that

I hope everyone is has stayed safe & dry overnight!

glenhaggis · 16/02/2020 10:51

Tenbury Wells and Bewdley (Teme/Severn) have jumped from Flood Alert to Severe Flood warning overnight.

That's ridiculous that they missed that one, it's not exactly hard to predict. My brother's house backs on to the Teme and he's away with work, I'm going to have to go round and sandbagged it.

Update from me in South Wales valley (literally in the middle of the red warning zone).

I had a phone call from the flood alert services at 4am this morning to say prepare for imminent flooding and to be ready for evacuation. At 4am the flood siren started going off and is still going.

2 miles either side of us are underwater. We are still ok despite the River Taff being a few metres away but due to road closures I don't think we can leave!

No power cuts here yet. Bags are packed and bag for dcat2. Have taken as much upstairs as we can. I can't help but feel a bit helpless and in future will have an emergency bag packed ready.

Dcat1 is still not home either. Sad

We're lucky that our home hasn't flooded (yet) but I'm devastated for everyone who has been. Our local community will struggle to come back from this for a long time.

torthecatlady · 16/02/2020 11:23

Pictures from a few miles down the road either way. People are trapped in their homes until help can arrive.

Tor I hope your cat turns up soon.

dementedma · 16/02/2020 11:31

Windy here in East Fife but we seemed to have escaped the worst of it compared to those down south

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 16/02/2020 11:34

Went back to bed and since getting up its been raining but not slanted or window hitting rain . Wind appears to have died down though it IS windy its nothing major (in my opinion)

AmelieTaylor · 16/02/2020 11:35

@torthecatlady

I’m so sorry for all of you.

I hope your house stays dry & that DCat1 comes home soon, but try not to worry if he doesn’t he’s probably just found himself somewhere high & dry to hang out

I hope everyone stays safe

DartmoorDoughnut · 16/02/2020 11:43

@torthecatlady glad you’re ok so far, hope DCat is under a bed or something fast asleep.

Thanks all for the travel advice. My DC are desperate to go (have packed up all the toys they want to take 🙄😂) and my parents are all it is fineeeee here but I’m holding off for now. I’ll also be taking the dogs and the thought of getting stuck with all of us in the car is not a happy one!

mogloveseggs · 16/02/2020 11:57

Flowers for all in flooded areas it must be so scary
@torthecatlady I hope dcat turns up safe soon
@AmelieTaylor dd crossed the channel safely and is in middle France about 5 hours from her destination thanks for asking

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 16/02/2020 11:59

@torthecatlady I too hope DCat turns up .

Must be awful for so many of you with floods and flood risk .

magimedi · 16/02/2020 12:22

Very heavy rain & winds here overnight (E.Sussex) - eased off for a couple of hours from about 10 - 12 but has started again.

Thoughts with all of those who are flooded - what a nightmare.

Spacerader · 16/02/2020 12:28

@DartmoorDoughnut where outside cardiff are you heading. I just drove to cardiff from the valleys and it's just like a dreary wet day in most parts there. The roads were quiet and I seen hardly any flooding. So you could be fine. It wasnt until I left cardiff that you started noticing the chaos.

JacquesHammer · 16/02/2020 12:31

torthecatlady

Hope your cat turns up soon. Stay safe Flowers

DartmoorDoughnut · 16/02/2020 12:33

@Spacerader south of Cardiff, tbh I’ll probably wait another hour and hopefully head off dependent on the weather reports

slipperywhensparticus · 16/02/2020 12:35

Cats can usually help themselves to higher ground have you shook the dreamies? Can you leave a window ajar just incase?

Spacerader · 16/02/2020 12:37

South cardiff was fine, I travelled right down to the coast, you should have no trouble. The roads were fine and no major roads were closed. You wouldn't think a storm had even happened.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/02/2020 13:14

Went out into the garden and found that one tree has fallen over at the back and another has heaved over fairly substantially. Not quite sure what to do with that one - it feels stable, but it clearly isn't.

It's definitely a combination of the sheer waterlogging and high winds as I've had higher winds here before without an impact.

@herefordholiday not sure if it was you just on bbc news but it looks horrendous. So sorry for all of you who have been flooded.

WreckTangled · 16/02/2020 13:33

There's a slow worm in our back garden. I assume it's been pushed out of its burrow by the rain Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/02/2020 13:37

:( that's actually rather sad. Can you make it a little slow worm nest?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 16/02/2020 13:40

I'll have to have a google and see what's recommended. I haven't checked to see if it's still alive yet

WreckTangled · 16/02/2020 13:56

I'm afraid wormy is not alive. Possibly a bird had him and dropped him where he is.
