First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Not so much as a light breeze where I am (south west)...I'm beginning to feel cheated. Grin

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 08/02/2020 19:01

I'm in the south-east (Bedfordshire) and it's been beautiful today but you can feel the wind just starting to pick up now.
I've been out and secured our bins and bits round the garden and moved my car as it sits under an enormous tree branch that I fear might come down.
My neighbours are very blasé though, there's bins left out everywhere so I'm hoping they move them or my car may end up smashed by one Confused

Piggywaspushed · 08/02/2020 19:03

Waves at rosie from Beds. Still hoping I can get on a train tomorrow... what do you think?

although I don't think of us as the SE!

Waitingforciara · 08/02/2020 19:13

I've put my car away from the big trees too Rosie. Sorted of excited and worried too, I love big weather but don't want anyone to get hurt obviously.

WreckTangled · 08/02/2020 19:15

Piggy and TheletterZ I am going to the O2 as well! I have to drive though from further South (A3 and M25) 😭

I think DS' football will be cancelled. The national park trust it's in is closed for the day but so far football is still on, I don't understand why they don't just cancel it now they're only 6/7 and don't need to be out in that.

CeibaTree · 08/02/2020 19:15

It's been a beautiful sunny calm day here (SW London), but I can hear the wind picking up outside a bit now. We were supposed to be meeting friends at a NT place in Sussex tomorrow, but it's closed for the storm. Good luck to everyone having to travel tomorrow!

London. Nothing happening here (yet)

The cancelled CRUK run was due to have 25,000 participants. They won't have called that off lightly

SwingoutSisterSledge · 08/02/2020 19:18

You can feel a storm brewing here in Newcastle. Rain and wind strength picking up.

Piggywaspushed · 08/02/2020 19:22

Who knows if we'll get to the )" Sad

I have to get to West Hampstead and then Jubilee Line some of which is overground... hmm

Piggywaspushed · 08/02/2020 19:24

02!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 08/02/2020 19:31

Hi @Piggywaspushed !
@Waitingforciara I know what you mean about the mixed feelings, I'm on my own with the kids until tomorrow evening and always feel a bit more on edge when 'big weather' happens and it's just us. We're pretty rural with fields behind us so do get battered by the wind!

UnsuitableAvocado · 08/02/2020 19:44

North East Coast of England here and proper bloody scary considering the worst is yet to come!

Waitingforciara · 08/02/2020 19:49

Take care Rosie hope it all goes ok as far as possible.

TwentyViginti · 08/02/2020 19:53

OOOH! thank you @flouncyfanny for your link! I'm in land locked East Midlands, so exciting for me to watch the sea!

Amber wind warning! We usually only get yellow here. Sky strange just before dusk.

Am childishly excited as I love Big Weather - obviously hope nobody gets hurt. I hope everyone who doesn't have to be out stays in, to lessen the chance of accidents.

Confuseddotcommm · 08/02/2020 19:57

Looking at the forecast it looks as if it will hit London from about 3am. Thankfully our bins get collected on a Monday so they are pretty weighted down by now....

Surprised about that 10k in central London being cancelled - they won’t have done that lightly. All Royal Parks in London closed tomorrow too (not that I use them regularly, but still!). Think it will be a hibernation day tomorrow.....

Stay safe everyone.

Clangus00 · 08/02/2020 19:58

It’s been terrible here in Ayrshire all day, and to be a lot worse tomorrow apparently.

ChippingIn · 08/02/2020 20:00

I’ve moved my car and parked it between two others 🚘 🚘 🚘 in the communal carpark as the dimwits all have bins out

Quite a few people haven’t heard about C and are looking at me like I’m
Mad ...nothing new 🤣

I spoke to the guys running the corner shop & suggested it might be a good idea to bring the signs in tonight - he hasn’t heard about it either despite having a shop full of newspapers 🙄🙄

@OYBBK. hope you have a good night! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do🤓. No working hard, no early nights, no being sensible then! 🤣. Have fun 🥃🥃

Waitingforciara · 08/02/2020 20:07

Honestly how can people not have heard about it, I do despair.

Waitingforciara · 08/02/2020 20:08

Wonder if we'll all be on here from about 1am onwards ...

Needtobepositive · 08/02/2020 20:08

Not a lot going on near Gatwick. Hoping it stays that way.

Doilooklikeatourist · 08/02/2020 20:10

In west Wales and the wind is definitely getting stronger , had a bit of rain but not much yet
We live in a draughty old house , and there’s a lot of draughts coming in and a lot of rattling going on

lifeonprivetdrive · 08/02/2020 20:10

Wind is picking up here in North Yorkshire, starting to rain.

I am not planning on leaving the house tomorrow.

Erismorn · 08/02/2020 20:13

Oh good, the forecast appears to have got worse. I'm feeling more than a little worried for our roof and our trees - in particular our lovely big weeping willow.

We were contemplating a walk along the seafront - not happening now! We won't be leaving the house unless it's to catch the trampoline

LittleSwede · 08/02/2020 20:15

In Hertfordshire, it's been a calm and sunny day, wind beginning to pick up now... Am worried about NDNs trampoline taking Ng off during the night! We've rearranged the garden furniture, moved the food caddies and nearly empty recycling bins to safe areas but don't think anyone else in the street has bothered. We often have a fence panel down in a storm so will see what happens overnight. Stay safe everyone.
