First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Wind picking up in North Bucks now

Pollyputthekettleonok · 08/02/2020 20:17

In London and bricking it, how pathetic is that age 30. I hate wind. One of my ds's windows doesn't lock and I'm scared it will break. Should I be switching off all the electrical items before bed?!

Perihelion · 08/02/2020 20:17

Fluffythegoldfish the bridge will be fine. It doesn't shut till the gusts reach 100mph.
The flight will be fine too. There's s wee lull in the wind for a few hours early tomorrow and then we've wind till Wednesday.

Justmuddlingalong · 08/02/2020 20:18

East coast of Scotland here. Horizontal, icy rain. Windy but nothing out of the ordinary so far. Supposed to have a lull 11pm until about 5am, then storm ciara due.

FreezerBird · 08/02/2020 20:18

We're in South Wales visiting family. We live on the West Wales coast and we're going to head home tomorrow but are packing the car up to go now.

According to the band weather app the wind is starting up at home already but won't get really bad until after we get back.

FreezerBird · 08/02/2020 20:19

*BBC weather, not band weather! Hmm

cheninblanc · 08/02/2020 20:20

Just nipped out to meet dd at the bus stop, totally still, clear skies. Really lovely! Very much calm before the storm.

frillyfarmer · 08/02/2020 20:31

Central Lincs and the wind is picking up pace here. I love big weather but we have some bloody big old trees in the garden and I do worry about them coming down on the house when it's windy like this.

ScouseQueen · 08/02/2020 20:32

@longhaulstress Thanks! At least you know. DS's event tomorrow is still on in theory but I can't imagine it will go ahead. Wish they'd just cancel now! I am very ready for a PJ day tomorrow.

lowlandLucky · 08/02/2020 20:34

It is wild here in S.W.Scotland, i live on a hillside in the middle of nowhere, driving home this evening a bloody 10ft trampoline went flying over the top of our car, thank goodness DH is a bloody good driver and doesn't panic. If you have a trampoline please secure the bloody thing before it kills someone.

RoseAndRose · 08/02/2020 20:34

Should I be switching off all the electrical items before bed?!

Yes, but simply because that's good practice (energy saving and fire risk). Not because of forecast storm

ippdipdo · 08/02/2020 20:36

I'm worried for our roof as it's got a dodgy corner that is exposed. It's bin day tomorrow too , luckily our bin is full to the rafters and I'll be home to bring it in as they come at a very early hour

CeibaTree · 08/02/2020 20:39

Should I be switching off all the electrical items before bed?!
I hadn't even thought about doing this - what would the reason be for doing that? I hope your window stays put @Pollyputthekettleonok

AdultHumanFemale · 08/02/2020 20:44

Oooo, just reading these last comments, thinking we haven't seen much here (near Bristol)... Then actually listening, and boy, the wind really has picked up since an hour ago; the roof is creaking and I can hear a loud rumble outside. Sounds fierce!

Jellykat · 08/02/2020 20:50

FreezerBird im on West Wales coast, good idea to head back now, as wind and rain are pretty wild already

Piggywaspushed · 08/02/2020 20:50

You have bin day on a Sunday??

AutumnRose1 · 08/02/2020 20:53

I’m in London
I live on a high floor and while you can’t see a change at ground level, my flat is like Wuthrring Heightsalready,

Ringsender2 · 08/02/2020 20:54

Dublin: it's been windy here all day, gusty this morning and really picking up since about 1.30 pm. Our recycling bin went flying at 3ish.

I was informed by my DH that this isn't even Storm Ciara, which is due in the early hours of tomorrow. Eek!

jupiteroo · 08/02/2020 20:56

Lovey sunny day in Somerset today. Wind picking up now for sure. Wondering how things will pan out tonight and tomorrow... at least the trampoline is tied down!

TwentyViginti · 08/02/2020 21:00

Apparently the current wind isn't Ciara - she hits us about midnight.

There is also a supermoon tonight - the 'snow moon' which brings very high tides.

SnorkMaiden81 · 08/02/2020 21:01

North west coast here. Nothing to report... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Waitingforciara · 08/02/2020 21:02

The moon was stunning this eve

Frouby · 08/02/2020 21:06

Getting very blowy now in south yorks.

Northernsoullover · 08/02/2020 21:13

I've just laid my bins flat and moved my garden seat... its blowy now but nothing unusual

AFistfulofDolores1 · 08/02/2020 21:20

It's getting windy here in Northants.
