First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Blowing a gale here again in Norfolk after it had calmed down a bit a few hours ago. I’m at the top of a hill so the wind likes to whistle and rattle around the outside of my house and the trees at the back of my house, and keep me awake at night Hmm off to bed soon now to try and get an early night

CadburyFlake · 09/02/2020 22:29

Thanks to you OhYouBadKitten
I love a weather thread with your inputs.
They feel safe and inclusive Smile

Thanks to Gloria too 😊

megletthesecond · 09/02/2020 23:04

Still so windy in north Hampshire. Sick of the sound of it now.

ValerieFlowers · 09/02/2020 23:28

Hi, I'm meant to be catching a train from York to Durham tomorrow morning for a training course. I'm really anxious about going as even if I get there ok in the morning, I'm worried in case I have problems getting back as I have to my daughter and my dog to get home to. Should I play it safe and not go?

BagpussAteMyHomework · 10/02/2020 00:47

Suddenly blown up again!

windymillersmill · 10/02/2020 01:12

We just had what sounded like hail and still lots of gusts. It sounds like we are on top of the hills not in a quiet hollow.

HeIenaDove · 10/02/2020 01:37

Wind still very bad here yet the yellow warning (that came after the amber one) expired at midnight. Hmm

DoloresStormborn · 10/02/2020 01:51

The wind is picking up again here. Worrying noises coming from the roof too :(

Is it expected to still be windy in the morning? Daft question, but how windy is too windy to walk to school? No car ATM and bit nervous about getting hit by falling debris as we walk down streets with trees and old houses right on the pavement.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 10/02/2020 03:39

@DoloresStormborn same, I thought it had died down and we were over the worst of it but it’s really picked up again in the last hour or so

Freeekedout · 10/02/2020 03:43

Woke up an hour ago to what sounded like a sand blaster on the window. Quietened down now but I'm wide awake. I'm near Reading.

lifeonprivetdrive · 10/02/2020 04:52

The wind woke me up at 3:30.

Local Facebook pages are showing photos of flooding in roads half a mile away that don’t usually flood and the water is still coming off the tops.

borntobequiet · 10/02/2020 05:43

Windy most of the night here but little rain (I think) so hopefully I won’t be driving through floods to work again. Thanks to all for the Sunday company, esp OYBBK and Gloria.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2020 06:24

Morning all. Some fairly wild moments last night here too. That theme will continue today. Parts of Scotland and northern England could see several cm of snow today along with gales and severe gales, bringing blizzard like conditions at times. Ice tonight.

Tomorrow perhaps some snow even in southern England.

The wind sounded worse overnight last night than it had through the day.

Hope everyone is ok.

Thanks to Gloria and OYBBK for this thread.

woodencoffeetable · 10/02/2020 06:54

still blustery here, but not too bad.
all trains seem to be running fine. THANK YOU MAINTENANCE WORKERS
more storm, hail and snow expected this evening. and the next three high tides are going to be interesting.

woodencoffeetable · 10/02/2020 07:17

though kids are disapointed that school is open as usual...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/02/2020 07:24

Today the southern half of England may develop some thunderstorms, with convective gusts to 70mph embedded within them. A risk of hail, lightning, torrential rain and the small possibility of one or two tornadoes. This risk lasts all day.

Today's warnings include snow and wind for Scotland and parts of northern England and southern coastal gales.

Perhaps some wet snow showers this afternoon for eastern counties of England.

....something to look forward to then 🙄🤣

@OhYouBadBadKitten.

If it was anyone other than you saying that I’d assume they had no idea what they’re in about! It’s a light blue sky, sun shining, few white fluffy clouds...

Mind you it’s still blowing with gusto as it was ALL night. I’m shattered

How was your cycle to the station?

cheninblanc · 10/02/2020 08:24

Thank you oybk and gloriasmud for your updates and warnings. As always much appreciated

Perihelion · 10/02/2020 08:27

Snow Grin

Igneococcus · 10/02/2020 08:41

It was nowhwere near as bad here than it was forecast but we have winds in the high 40s today, then 50s throughout the night and peaking at 58 tomorrow lunchtime.
Raining here at the coast but the hills just a few miles inland look white.

dementedma · 10/02/2020 09:02

quite heavy snow in Central Fife but all clear in Dundee. I look a right numpty sitting at my desk in my Scott of the Antarctic gear!
