First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Burgh Windmill has lost it's sails

This is rather sad, although no-one was hurt, which is the main thing.

Wonderingwhyme · 09/02/2020 13:42

@ windymillersmill I saw that, keeps going round in circles as does the e1236 Dublin flight, went close to Gatwick and just keeps circling. Obviously having trouble. Must be scary! I’m not far from Gatwick and would not want to be landing in this!

Gammeldragz · 09/02/2020 13:43

Power just gone here and DS age 12 and his friend went up to the village shop about an hour ago and haven't returned yet. DH is annoyed as he didn't think they should go, but it wasn't that bad here then and they've been stuck in all day. Friend's Dad has driven out to look for them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 13:43

Glasgow shouldn't see anything more that is too severe today. Gusts to around 40-50 mph.

For some reason my cat is intrigued by videos of planes landing.

GloriaSmud · 09/02/2020 13:45

SoleBizzz - I've just shown (aircraft-mad) DH that website and he said, "Don't ever let anyone tell you that pilots don't earn their money." As a nervous flyer, I would not like to be on any of those flights today.

It's gone very calm here (Leicester) but think the squall line is about to pass over.

NuttyCluster · 09/02/2020 13:45

@windymillersmill Suspected tail strike on take off, it's burning fuel before it can come back to land.

BlackeyedSusan · 09/02/2020 13:47

Squall line here now. W Mids.

GloriaSmud · 09/02/2020 13:47

Yep, squall line has just hit.

Gammeldragz · 09/02/2020 13:47

DS is back, they'd been sheltering in a playhouse in the park and had no reception! Stern words had...

RunningNinja79 · 09/02/2020 13:48

From where I'm sat now it looks like any normal day. Cloudy, but nothing exciting. Just checked 3 different weather sites (Netweather, Met Office and BBC) for my location and they all say something different.

Netweather has the odd shower this afternoon turning heavy this evening and then snowing all day tomorrow
Met Office shows on and off showers the rest of the day and tomorrow
BBC shown non stop rain throughout this evening and tomorrow.

Time will tell I suppose.

Im in North Yorkshire close to scotch corner.

Grandmi · 09/02/2020 13:51

BlackeyedSusan · 09/02/2020 13:51

Just a quick pointer that there are snow, ice and wind warnings for Scotland and down the spine of northern England for tomorrow into Wednesday.

My part of the South coast now up to 60kph which is around 40mph and less than was forecast. Now also getting noisy rain from the S West.

whataballbag · 09/02/2020 13:53

Blue skies and birds singing now in Manchester!

dementedma · 09/02/2020 13:54

Brother in York reports all power out. Windy and sunny here in central Scotland but nothing drastic

BlackeyedSusan · 09/02/2020 13:57

Rain has lessened now. Still raining though. Hoping we are through the worst.

EnidBlyton · 09/02/2020 13:58

Agree, great to watch BigJet TV

borntobequiet · 09/02/2020 13:59

Ooh squall here now. Hope DD not driving home from work in it.

GloriaSmud · 09/02/2020 13:59

Sudden burst of wind and rain for a few minutes and back to fairly calm now.

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 13:59

Just watched that QF10 landing, thud! Great job by the pilots.

Thismummyruns · 09/02/2020 13:59

Just watched QF10 land. That was intense!
Love this thread, brings out my inner geekiness.

SaskiaRembrandt · 09/02/2020 14:00

We had a torrential downpour, but it's sunny now.

Piggywaspushed · 09/02/2020 14:00

The stand at Wisbech FC has collapse, happily with no one in it.
Must be fun at Sheffield Utd at the mo. Just about the only game on!
