First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

Blue skies and sunshine here in Cheshire, still windier than average though!

BrokenBrit · 09/02/2020 14:04

Am hoping it’s passed through Cheshire now as the sky is blue and the winds are easing.
Some trees down locally and debris on the roads but I think we have escaped relatively unscathed compared to other areas of the country.

ListenLinda · 09/02/2020 14:10

At about 11ish the sky went very dark and grey, horizontal rain and huge gusts of wind.... blue sky, sunshine and a bit of wind now. Flooding down by the river but otherwise nothing too damaging here in my part of West Yorks

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 09/02/2020 14:11

We're on a train heading up to Manchester after an interesting 3 hrs at Euston station. They locked the doors to the station to prevent overcrowding but we still ended up getting a bit hemmed in for a few minutes as we got caught between one train arriving and another platform being announced. Some frayed tempers!

I'm glad to hear things are calming down up north.

Gammeldragz · 09/02/2020 14:11

EE signal gone here, everyone in the house without 4g apart from me... Tn22 area

iheartspiders · 09/02/2020 14:14

Bigjet.tv is amazing. Watching that little one wobble around there! Way more exciting than the non-storm we've got here

mummytooneprincess · 09/02/2020 14:17

Hi, I'm in Gloucestershire. Can anyone tell me how much longer until the worst is due to have passed? The wind makes me so anxious anyway, my husband is in the garden trying to secure what's left of my fence. I feel like I'm on my last nerve Shock

Waitingforciara · 09/02/2020 14:20

I think this is the peak but many hours of it left. I'm in Bucks and not subsiding here until 9pm ish

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 14:21

No sign of anything approaching blue skies in the south Midlands, it's the same as it's been all day.

AnuvvaMuvva · 09/02/2020 14:24

Very windy here (Berkshire). Raining all day. Once fence panel completely down - snapped at the base ☹️ for us, and another for our NDN.

Wonderingwhyme · 09/02/2020 14:27

Lost roof tiles. Scared the bloody life out of me!

Wonderingwhyme · 09/02/2020 14:34

If roof tiles come off, that means more are likely to follow doesn’t it? They are the ones on the actual top straight line where the roof meets if that makes sense as apposed to the ones on the slope? I’m so glad they went over back of house and not front or would’ve landed on my car. Have moved car down the drive a bit

Shimy · 09/02/2020 14:34

Has anyone driven up the M1 today and is it safe?

thereinmadnesslies · 09/02/2020 14:38

M11 is shut between j9-11 because the roof of one of the duxford aircraft hangers is damaged and likely to fall onto the motorway. Scary

colouringinpro · 09/02/2020 14:44

Still v windy in Chilterns, rain has almost stopped. Am I in a squall line OYBBK have chocolate cravings!!

Oh and the windmill used in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has lost a sail!

Your ridge tiles wonderingwhyme? It doesn't mean that you'll lose more.
make sure you get a bucket or few up there under it and put out an appeal on local fb groups. If you can get a temporary cover then hopefully your insurance will cover the costs. (but if it's just a few then it shouldn't cost a ridiculous amount)

As for tiles and roofs, I'd suggest staying indoors until the storm passes.

No point in getting an injury as well as the damage.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 14:48

Squall line position.
After it, it will still be very windy, but down a couple of notches from the peak. Trees may still come down over the next couple of days with generalised gales.

Yep, went over Bristol about 30 minutes ago. It was absolutely vile, but has calmed down considerably since.

lifeonprivetdrive · 09/02/2020 14:53

My power is back on in North Yorks. We had blue skies for about half an hour but that has been replaced with fast moving dark clouds right now. Still really windy.

I have rescued a fixed outdoor sofa cushion from the other side of my 7ft wall and seem to have a damp patch in my bedroom top corner wall so might have lost tiles.

I touched up some paintwork in the kitchen about an hour ago only to find I used the wrong paint when the lights came back on 🙄. I have same colour in two adjacent rooms, one light and one mid.

mrshoho · 09/02/2020 14:57

glued to big jets tv now when I really should be doing something else. the qf10 had a tail strike on take off so had to circle a few times and land at Heathrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 14:57

All lines between Paddington and Reading blocked. People advises not to travel.

EnidBlyton · 09/02/2020 15:00

did anyone else see the touch and go aircraft?
how frightening to be a passenger.

WreckTangled · 09/02/2020 15:03

OYBBK will the worst be over when we leave the o2 at 4pm back to Chichester area?

AFistfulofDolores1 · 09/02/2020 15:03
