First met office warnings for the month are
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-02-03 for Scotland. Gusts up to 80mph (perhaps more in isolated spots) for many.

In general it looks like it could be quite a stormy month with a lot of potential showing from the 9th onwards. Might be worth looking at your fences in the south before then Wink

BlackeyedSusan · 09/02/2020 01:35

I can see the cranes wobbling in the wind.

SoleBizzz · 09/02/2020 01:35

Can hear stuff being blown about. The wind is loud.

yeetyoik · 09/02/2020 01:43

West Wales. Just had a short power cut for a few minutes.

SnowyRacoon · 09/02/2020 01:46

Extremely windy and wet in Co Durham

Mumtoone39 · 09/02/2020 01:52

Very wet here - northern ireland- I am stuck in work as couldn't get home due to flooding.

RainbowMum11 · 09/02/2020 01:53

Wind has really picked up here in the East Mids. And the rain is coming down.

RainbowMum11 · 09/02/2020 01:56

Update - I can hear things bashing against my window, DD has come in with me and the cat just can't settle at all.

mogloveseggs · 09/02/2020 02:17

East lancs
Rain and wind battering us currently (exposed front of house)
Everyone else is asleep
I'm fretting about a short journey tomorrow

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 09/02/2020 02:21

The rain has started to lash down here in south east Wales

BagpussAteMyHomework · 09/02/2020 02:24

London. Wind causing some disturbance in the garden but I can’t actually see anything too worrying at the moment.

Regretting buying a cheap flimsy shed....

BagpussAteMyHomework · 09/02/2020 02:28

I’ve just realised the amber warning for London starts in a few hours. We are just warming up!

ScouseQueen · 09/02/2020 03:29

Woke up to... complete calm. And no rain. Can't remember when the amber warning was starting from.

notimagain · 09/02/2020 03:37

Sadly that's true, Looking at a Met Office forecast (for Heathrow) done at just before 2 A.M. the wind doesn't really start picking up in the West London area until just after 4 A.M., when speeds start to climb to 25 MPH sustained, gusting to over 45.

Also as the morning wears on you might be looking at 35-65 MPH in any showers and briefly ( late PM) a chance of 40 gusting 70 MPH ( again associated with showers............)

Good luck...

Rowgtfc72 · 09/02/2020 03:53

Just woke up in ne lincs (damn you dry tickly cough). Definitely very windy. Weather app says the worst coming around 8am. My two weather apps reckon winds of 31 gusting to 54. The weather station over the river reckons they've had a gust of 49. Lincolnshire is a bit on the flat side so very believable.

SleepyChe · 09/02/2020 04:17

Very loud winds in London right now. Have just been woken up by it.

Erismorn · 09/02/2020 04:25

Kent coast - woke up just before 4 to feed the baby and am laying here with a milk drunk monster on my chest listening to it getting louder outside. There was one particularly big gust a moment ago which made the house creak. Will get up once the baby is back down and have a peer out of the window.

GloriaSmud · 09/02/2020 04:54

Been awake since 2am because of the wind. There's been the odd strong gust here (Leicester) but it's quite calm at the moment.

daisychain01 · 09/02/2020 04:59

Yesterday was really sunny and hardly a breathe of wind. Definitely felt calm before the storm....woooo

Knowing there was a storm on the way I went out in the garden and took the hanging bird feeders off their mount and put them in the garage. Cut back a couple of climbers which had become quite overgrown as I was worried they'd be flapping around in the storm. The birds definitely knew something was going to happen by the way they were circling round in the sky, it was very eerie.

The storm is here, it's a hoolly, wind, rain, the works! It's due to blow through by tea-time today. We've got enough food and have planned not to step outside until Monday Grin

AwkwardSquad · 09/02/2020 05:18

NE. Rain and wind battering the house. Due to hit its peak during the morning, according to BBC weather. I’m glad we don’t have to go out today!

GreyhoundzRool · 09/02/2020 06:00

South Coast and horrendous here. Need to get dog out for his toilets - worst forecast mid/late morning through to late afternoon here

Waitingforciara · 09/02/2020 06:03

Bucks, very windy got a lot worse now

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 06:07

I've been trying to fake sleep, but given up. Despite earplugs I can hear the wind whistling and something creaking.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 06:12

Love your user name!
Dh is fast asleep and breakfast doesn't start til 7:30. I'm keen to be getting off home now.
I noted where the scaffolded/plastic sheeted buildings are on the way back to the room last night. I'll be avoiding them!
