Seems a bit silly having multiple threads going when it might be quite a lively summer. It looks lively again this week anyhow.

We have met office thunderstorm warnings for the next three days.

Tomorrow storm potential looks to be areas away from the SE, including northern England and the Midlands, but I'm also keeping an eye on the SE for tomorrow night. By mid week the storm potential really grows though and by Wednesday we could have some really cracking storms.

Thunderstorms are notoriously difficult to forecast. Not only whether they will happen, but where they will happen. I'll see if I can find the link to the excellent met office tweet about that earlier this week.

It's all being driven by very hot air being drawn up from Africa, through mainland Europe, which could see temps close to 40C. We could see temperatures touching 30C by Thursday. It's going to be humid and uncomfortable I'm afraid.

It is indeed, OYBBK!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 08:29

No thinking about results day until the beginning of August. You are to have a full month off worrying about it.

Soooooo muggy here. Fan on in office and caffeine for humidity sleep disturbance and headache!

magimedi · 25/06/2019 12:14

France has postponed the 'brevet des colleges' (the equivalent of GCSE) which was supposed to be happening this week, because of the heatwave. Never happened before.

25.8C & very humid here. (Sussex coast).

hotdog74 · 25/06/2019 12:20

I'm in York. Where is this warm/hot weather you talk of? It's cold and drizzly here at the moment!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 16:22

It is pretty stuffy at the moment. Hopefully the skies will start to clear by Thursday.

So the next potential storm I can see is on Saturday with CAPE values high and at the moment temperatures looking to reach 30c in the east.

It’s not too bad here temp wise but, as my Grandad would have said, it’s getting late early tonight, I’ve already got the lamp on.

TheCaddyisaBaddie · 25/06/2019 19:40

Nice and fresh in Merseyside, a little overcast but still a nice enough day.

tapdancingmum · 25/06/2019 21:11

What's with all the mist? Apart from it being warm it's like an Autumn evening at the moment.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 21:18

It is surreal isn't it! Thats what happens when we reach 100% humidity or close to it.

Iggly · 25/06/2019 21:43

The humidity is horrendous. Went out for a run and sweating just didn’t work to cool me down at all!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2019 21:53

me too. I was soaked.

DD said Paris was hot today. School trip seems to be continuing as planned Hmm
Edinburgh is back to normal today after the brief floods yesterday.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/06/2019 17:05

County Council have released a “Hot Wather Warning” Hmm. The only ‘hot’ day I can see on my forecast is Saturday when it’s saying 29, tomorrow & Friday are 22, Sunday is 20.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/06/2019 00:02

we were predicted 29 earlier, it has now reduced to 28 being predicted.

in other news a couple of random lightening strikes recorded south of norwich and in solihull just as I was thinking the west mids was safe from storms tonight.

LittleSwede · 27/06/2019 07:10

We're forecast 31 on Saturday but it seems to be a one day heatwave!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/06/2019 17:43

At the moment there doesn't seem to be a huge risk of storms on Saturday. But you are right, it does look hot.

I'd really like it if this wind were to settle down.

tapdancingmum · 27/06/2019 18:36

I'm going to see P!nk on Saturday at Wembley and am not looking forward to the heat. We have standing tickets so have to queue to get a good spot. Plays havoc with what I need to wear as well!!

colouringinpro · 28/06/2019 10:44

Wish it was going to be moderately warm for several days rather than just one scorcher!

BlackeyedGruesome · 28/06/2019 12:53

We have been up to 32 and down again to 30. We will see tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2019 20:05

Warmer than down here where we only reached 26C.

Just keep a bit of an eye on the forecast tomorrow, we may get a few thunderstorms as the colder air sweeps back in.

OP posts:
BlackeyedGruesome · 28/06/2019 20:28

(sorry, not today, forecast for tomorrow... ) keeping an eye on it as the flat gets ridiculously hot got all my windows open and will leave them open overnight.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/06/2019 12:39

it is supposedly 31 outside. It is 27 inside and not too bad at the moment. It gets tough when it hits about 30 inside.
