Similar zen, looks like we'll get snow followed by rain and when the rain arrives keeps changing. Now back to overnight so unlikely to wake up to much. Was hoping ds might get to sledge before school ( which only shuts if hell freezes over and then only if the head's huskies can't get him in). Don't mind it raining later tomorrow.

Thank you OYBBK!

Stokey · 31/01/2019 15:13

Love your map OYBBK

DH is playing football tonight, he may be cycling back in the snow!

ineedaholidaynow · 31/01/2019 15:13

Snowing in West Devon, not yet settling

JarndyceVersusJarndyce · 31/01/2019 15:15

Love the map, no snow due where I am Sad

HowlsMovingBungalow · 31/01/2019 15:16

Rain in East Devon.

My weather app ( Dark sky ) shows no forecasted snow so I am finding it all abit odd. Dark sky is usually spot on even down to warning minutes before it rains!

Strange.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2019 15:18

ok, this is my bestest handwriting after holding a cup of tea.

OYBBK Thanks for that...sleet showers are fine!! (I know you can't guarantee etc etc but I'm hanging on to that for now!)

OBBYK, I think you said about the Met Office website being unable to cope with traffic - I thought it was my ancient ipad being unable to master the Met office website but maybe not.

I keep travelling between my home and my mum's - a fair distance so different areas to check - and it seems to be permanently stuck on one location when it's not loading! We've just been to the supermarket and I think it was busier on account of snow warnings.

meanwhile XCweather keeps scaling it back and it's been correct so far so fingers crossed it keeps reducing....

We've got a friend meant to be travelling from Birmingham to London tomorrow to see us, I don't know if he will make it at the mo.

Burnshersmurfs · 31/01/2019 15:23

Yes- that might defuse the teenage bomb, thanks. We are on the eastern edge of 'loads here'. Her journey takes about an hour in total, and she was planning to set off from school around 7.30. She'll still be cross regardless!

magimedi · 31/01/2019 15:23

It can stay feeble for every batch for me!!

Hope you had a nice Cake with your tea - you deserve it.

Perihelion · 31/01/2019 15:25

Yep, your map is perfect. Doesn't bother the show Edinburgh with it's snow sheild in place Wink HaloGrin

Monstamio · 31/01/2019 15:26

Thanks so much for doing this. I'm another one who always lurks on these threads but rarely posts. I'm in the "Loads here" area and the radar is showing that we apparently already have snow falling, though looking out of my window tells a different story! It's a very grey cloudy sky though. Hurry up snow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2019 15:26

I think he will be ok Grace if not because of the timing. This is actually an easy one for gritters to cope with once we get any early evening disruption done for those in the west. No preceding rain for most to wash away any early gritting attempts and the heaviest of the snow for the arteries near London late tonight, with lots of time to remove it before morning rush hour.
I hope.

I'm in "who knows re amounts" - but hoping for copious amounts!!

LadyFlumpalot · 31/01/2019 15:33

The met office you tube taught me that it takes hours for a snowflake to make it from cloud to ground, I wonder if some of these rafts show the snow as it leaves the cloud which is a long time before it gets to the ground, hence us thinking it's late?

undercoverhero · 31/01/2019 15:34

Is Southampton in the loads here section or the feeble bit?? I'm really hoping for a proper snow day 😊

Grace212 · 31/01/2019 15:35

thanks Kitten, I would never think of details like that.

LadyFlumpalot · 31/01/2019 15:36

Also, I've been checking the webcams around Cornwall and the last time I checked this one on Bodmin Moor at 14:30 it just showed wet green grass... now it's a whiteout!

does that handwriting say "don't drink lots in London tonight"? Grin

jalopy · 31/01/2019 15:42

Just heard a severe weather warning for London on BBC Radio London.

ineedaholidaynow · 31/01/2019 15:42

Just heard on the local radio that A30 near Bodmin has just ground to a halt
