I know, brizzle. Bloody rubbish!!

@haggisfish maybe you'll get some over the weekend? DB was hoping for a snow day but no such luck.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/02/2019 10:07

Some extreme low temperatures expected tonight in central southern England. Perhaps as low as -9/-10c in some cold spots. Please check your outdoor taps and insulate the condensing pipes from any combi boilers if you haven't done so already.

We bounce back into positively spring like temperatures in comparison next week.

We have snow in the NE of England. Caused some major issues to our roads yesterday, not to bad so far today just the odd stupid person not driving for the conditions. Off to build a snowman ⛇

arealnamechanger · 02/02/2019 10:31

KingThistle did you make it? We’re in one of the villages outside Farnham and our roads aren’t great but the main roads seem ok.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/02/2019 10:33

We've still got blocked roads in our area but it is easing off.

If people need to choose between today and tomorrow for using their cars in places where it is snowy. Go out this afternoon if it's safe. Once the freeze happens tonight the minor roads are going to be really bad.

Now lightly snowing in rural Cambridgeshire, though the sky is blue with only a few white fluffy clouds!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/02/2019 12:36

It's so funny isn't it. Thursday we had imaginary snow being created by the radar returns, today you have magic snow.

It can travel a long way.

@arealnamechanger yep, thanks! Hogs Back was fine. Abandoned cars all the way down our hill this morning though Shock

BertrandRussell · 02/02/2019 12:46

Our imaginary snow on Tuesday night was so heavy we had an Imaginary snow day on Wednesday......

Bertrand ~ Grin

We didn't have any more snow here (Leicester) after the few showers overnight but despite the sunshine today, not a lot of ice has melted.

BBC report on the aftermath of the snow/ice warnings for tonight -12C for eastern/southern England Shock (I've got to go out tonight as well!)
And current weather warnings (apologies if they've been posted today already.)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/02/2019 17:36

-12! cripes.
It's clouding over where I am, but I think the skies will clear soon. The melt water was pretty extreme today with all the gutters blocked, so it's going to be very very icy.

Then heavy rain early on Monday with a thaw. Surface flooding likely to be an issue I think.

From the bbc - a road in Kent with over 100 trees down Shock

What I don't understand is why there wasn't an amber warning out yesterday. The met office got this wrong.

nannynick · 02/02/2019 18:11

-12, hope not in my area (West Surrey/Berkshire border) - latest forecast I have seen says -5, which won't be fun. I'm up early tomorrow, need to leave for work by 7.30am.

Oh my goodness LadyFlumpalot How on earth do people get up and down that hill with all that ice?! The residents must be completely stuck inside!

LadyFlumpalot · 02/02/2019 19:35

ScarlettDarling - very very carefully! We went down and up again! To the side of the railing is a modern non cobbled path that is slightly better and we clung to the rail.

ScarlettDarling · 02/02/2019 19:38

I'd be frightened I'd break my neck! It's beautiful though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/02/2019 22:08

That is pretty!

snow warnings for the western half of Scotland

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 02/02/2019 23:11

Lovely snowy scenes there, Lady Flumpalot.

I've just come back from Hinckley (about 12/15 miles west of Leicester) and it's surprising how much more snow they've got. I think from memory they were just about under the weather warning Thursday/yesterday and they've got 'a definite covering' rather than the sprinkling we had.

InMySpareTime · 03/02/2019 07:33

South Trafford snow has still not quite melted in the shade since Wednesday. It doesn't usually lay this long here, usually we get either a thaw or more snow.
