That clear bit in the middle ~ that's where I am. The only streaming going on Leicester-way were from my eyes/nose when I went out earlier ~ 'tis a bit brisk out there!

(Not sure they've been posted yet but updated weather warnings. And I'm still in the blank bit in the middle!)

LittleSwede · 01/02/2019 12:39

We've suddenly got a blizzard here and the met website has changed from 'one flake' to 'two' (heavy snow?) for the next few hours. In Herts

GloriaSmud · 01/02/2019 12:40

I might not have snow but there were some pretty cloud formations earlier on ~ the darker stripe of cloud in the distance sort of overlapped in the white 'bobbly' cloud.

It's still snowing heavily here north of Bath, probably 9-10" deep now! Certainly we're cut off here, nearly two miles to the village or the main road.

ChiaraRimini · 01/02/2019 12:45

Gutted - very little snow here in Cambridge :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 12:48

It's disappointing isn't it Chiara, it just never quite made it there.

That is very pretty Gloria!

I think what we need here is some kind of exchange system. When GloriousKitten forecasts snow, everyone in this thread who wants snow but won't get it swaps homes/lives with everyone who will get it but doesn't want it for a few days.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 12:53

ok, even I can't make head nor tails of the warnings in the south. Given the forecast the met office have for that region this afternoon, I can't find a specific warning for it. The snow warning seems to finish about now?
It's difficult to figure out which warning area goes with which text.

It's so confusing isn't it? The BBC are saying heavy snow for us this afternoon, the Met Office has nothing. Looking out of the window, I think the Met Office might be right...but who knows?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 13:06

The met office are persisting in forecasting me heavy snow on their pictograms but the radar suggests it's going to pretty much miss me. It shows how snow really does just come up seemingly out of nowhere sometimes.

it's glorious sunshine here, just as well as have to go shopping, hopefully my parcel will arrive soon and then I can go Grin
We are Greater Manchester/ Lancashire.

mrsdolittle · 01/02/2019 13:08

Loads here in the Cotswolds and still snowing.

Beginning to get a bit melty though - which could be interesting when it freezes later.

❄️❄️❄️❄️

Titsywoo · 01/02/2019 13:25

Clearly the met office can make head nor tail of it all. I thought we were done but now the met office is saying heavy snow again at 6 (East Surrey/border of Croydon).

MeetOnTheledge · 01/02/2019 13:26

Just started properly here again (Hampshire/Surrey border)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 13:34

The snow moving into Surrey/Hampshire appears to be part of a Thames streamer setting up as far as I can tell. These can bring a lot of snow sometimes.
Also the big blob over Bristol area seems to be moving SE a little, confusing things further.
The photo is the forecast wind direction and you can see how effectively snow is forming along these lines.

Meet I'm also on the Surrey / Hampshire border and nothing! So weird!

ConfusedDotty · 01/02/2019 13:39

Snowing heavy here now in Tyneside. The temp was 2.7 about an hour ago and the snow started to melt. The temperature is dropping again, cure 1.2c.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 14:31

The school run needs watching in some southern central areas where snow could become heavy.

@titsywo I'm near you and have no idea what's going on. The forecasts are constantly changing and don t seem to reflect what is happening. I am hoping for a bit more snow as I thought we may have had a snow day today but it wasn't to be.

perhapstomorrow · 01/02/2019 14:47

@ohyoubadbadkitten. Do you think the large area of rain/snow that is currently in berkshire/Oxford area is heading back towards London? It seems to be going in a loop.

MorvahRising · 01/02/2019 14:57

Oh crikey, this wasn’t forecast, we have a big family event in London tomorrow and people meant to be coming from all round the south east; some are travelling tonight. I’d just stopped panicking about snow and now it seems to have started again!

NigellasGuest · 01/02/2019 15:03

Snowing here still, in the Chilterns

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/02/2019 15:08

perhaps, it's going south west now. It's a complicated picture as it is merging with the sleet/snow and rain in the SE.

I have sleet. It's getting very messy out there!

OP posts:
Titsywoo · 01/02/2019 15:10

We've got sleet now @perhapstomorrow which will upset ds as he was looking forward to playing in it after school.
