There is a lot of rain in the forecast tomorrow too, though some south western parts might avoid it mostly.

Then after a few cooler slightly unsettled days the heat looks set to build again.

we had the most spectacular thunder and lightening last night ( East Yorkshire) . It started about 7 o clock. What I found most fascinating is the amount of lightening just flashing constantly from cloud to cloud, but with very little thunder. My weather station put the rainfall as 17.1 mm in that hour. Its raining here now again - another 1.2 mm so far

IT HAS RAINED! not masses but still it's broken the horrible muggy sticky feeling so much so my youngest is still sleeping

We had a real cloudburst along with strong winds here (Leicester) about 7am this morning. It brought the temperature down to a bit more comfortable 17C but also brought down loads of the dead leaves that had changed colour/died because of the drought. So it's cooled down but now looks like Autumn out there!

Netweather report there were 27,000 lightning strikes.

Steady rain this morning with a down pour at about 8.30.
Now clear blue skies again.

It was supposed to rain overnight, don't know if it did, I'm still in bed! What? It's Sunday!

Raining, raining, raining here.

My waterbutts are full. Whoop whoop!
Because this is the last foreseeable decent rain at present, I'm draining them off a bit and collecting the surplus in other containers (make sure they are covered, mossie breeding grounds otherwise.)

We've just got back from a weekend camping. I'm cold and wet and not impressed! I know we needed the rain, but seriously it picked the only 3 days of the year I needed it to be dry!!!

I was feeling really smug, three waterbutts and a big old dustbin filled up. Then the dustbin exploded from the bottom. I now have a lovely new pond.

Any chance your models go as far as August in Cornwall? Heading Penzance area for 2 weeks from 9th August. Feeling like all the sunny weather will have been and gone and autumn will be here ?

I've gone for jeans today......and a fleece jacket. I'm not wearing my scarf indoors yet though, as I do in the winter.

I bought one of these off Amazon at the start of the heatwave and I'm pleased to say it works ~ I have a full water butt! I bought two watering cans yesterday to use at the allotment. After today's rain, might be a few days/a week before I find out how well they work!

Some scary temps showing week after next on gfs - high 30s. Perhaps record breaking if it doesn't change.
