I'm in the amber zone right on the western edge. I let my husband borrow my car today so he didn't have to cycle, I hope he's grateful!

TokyoSushi · 27/07/2018 15:06

Unbelievably hot here in Warrington, apparently it's 28, feels more like 58! Thunderstorms at 6pm, apparently! 🤞

33 in Suffolk 😣

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 15:31

educatingarti ~ I'd perhaps take something but only as a 'just in case' measure! Temperatures don't really drop that much for that area, between 15-19C at night and low-mid 20s daytime (possibly hotter towards the end of the week!) I would take a coat though, mostly for tomorrow and Sunday as there could be showers.

ParsnipsAreTheDevil · 27/07/2018 15:31

Gloria - any inkling yet on what the weather will be like on 8 August or is it too early to tell?

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 16:07

Parsnips ~ it's a bit far ahead but at the moment, probably similar to what we've had for the last few weeks. Temperatures in the low-high 20s for a lot of England with the chance of thunderstorms and cooler/more unsettled the further north you go.

Metoffice Outlook is along the same lines..

UK Outlook for Wednesday 1 Aug 2018 to Friday 10 Aug 2018:
August starts with generally dry weather with some sunshine and just a few showers, although northwestern parts will be cloudier with some outbreaks of rain. Through the middle of the week into the following weekend, more in the way of fine weather is likely, and while the northwest may see some rain there is likely to be a good deal of dry and bright weather even here. Looking further ahead it probably becomes more settled with many areas dry and sunny, although occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible, and with the northwest cloudier with some rain at times. Temperatures around normal in the northwest to begin with, but otherwise it is likely to become very warm with a chance of hot conditions developing again, especially across the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 11 Aug 2018 to Saturday 25 Aug 2018:
Throughout this period it seems most likely that the weather pattern will change only very slowly, and it looks likely that warmer and drier than average conditions are most probable overall. However, unsettled interludes are also possible these most likely in the south with a risk of heavy showers or thunderstorms breaking out at times. The north and northwest may also possibly be affected by Atlantic frontal systems, bringing occasional wet and cloudier conditions. Temperatures are expected to remain widely above average for most, with further spells of very warm or hot conditions probable, and a likelihood of very hot conditions at times, especially in the south.

ParsnipsAreTheDevil · 27/07/2018 16:45

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 17:04

There are a good few storms crossing the Channel from France at the moment. Quite a big one just north of Paris showing here which might make it across.

magimedi · 27/07/2018 17:19

It rained here - much excitement - for about 5 minutes.

(Eastbourne, Sussex).

Skyejuly · 27/07/2018 17:26

No clouds here in Suffolk.

SimonBridges · 27/07/2018 18:29

Suffolk sky looking due west.

Have you seen the weather forecast for next week?!
GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 19:02

We had about 30 seconds of rain earlier but that was it. Lincolnshire and Yorkshire really look like they're getting it at the moment.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 27/07/2018 19:16

It's thundered on and off from about 4.40. I was out in it, it was lovely, although the rain tickled my back in my t-shirt! 😂

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 27/07/2018 19:18

It's coming your way Parsnips! 😆

rainbowruthie · 27/07/2018 19:34

Chucking it down in Kent!

SimonBridges · 27/07/2018 20:08

It rained it rained!!!

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 20:24

Excellent Simon!
I'm still waiting for some decent rain this evening. It's gone dark to the south, we've had a slight spotting effort and that's been it so far! I've told DH that I either want a decent thunderstorm or a good view of the lunar eclipse. Either one will do but I don't want just humidity and clouds!

princesstiasmum · 27/07/2018 20:31

Thunder, lightening and heavy rain here just now, thundered on and off since last night, except for a few hours this afternoon of glorious hot sunshine very dark now
Was hoping to see the blood moon eclipse tonight, but no chance now Sad

educatingarti · 27/07/2018 20:37

Thanks Gloria. Settled for taking one hoody and my waterproof coat.

beenrumbled · 27/07/2018 21:34

Hot and humid here in manchester. No rain but the wind has picked up.going to be another uncomfortable night.

IrenetheQuaint · 27/07/2018 22:10

Loudest thunder I've ever heard in London at 6ish, with blinding lightning at the same time then torrential rain. Now the rain has moved away and it's a nice warm fresh evening.

SimonBridges · 28/07/2018 08:55

Still raining here!
