Absolutely nothing doing here at the moment ~ clear skies have returned, there's a good breeze and it's still 30C. I'm keeping an eye on the 'splodge' of rain on the netweather radar, that's to the west of London at the moment and hoping that it's heading in my direction.

GloriaSmud · 26/07/2018 19:46

Looking to this weekend, could be quite wet in some areas on Sunday.

And rather windy as well for those crossing the Irish Sea/western coasts.

What the hell happened to the thunder we were supposed to have? It's disappeared off the fprcast

Whatthefoxgoingon · 26/07/2018 22:20

Please rain gods send the splodge towards London...

GloriaSmud · 26/07/2018 22:21

abbsisspartacus ~ I think it was always going to be a bit 'hit and miss' today. Looks like there's an increased chance tomorrow ~ ConvectiveWeather think these areas might see storms.

Here in Leicester, we have rain! Only a small thundery shower but it's something.

Delatron · 26/07/2018 22:30

London was stifling today. 35 was forecast do we know what the top temp was today?

GloriaSmud · 26/07/2018 22:33

35.1C Delatron

Delatron · 26/07/2018 22:42

Ahh thanks Gloria, it felt like that. Off home to have a cold shower!

Perihelion · 26/07/2018 23:14

Just had a spectacular wee thunder storm. GrinGrinGrin
Loads of cloud to cloud stuff, just as it was dark, with gaps in the clouds so we could see the lightning, not just the flashes....and then lots of ground stokes and some torrential rain.....cleared up now and can see the moon.

Not surprised the storm find do it's usual if die out before getting here, as the temp at 10pm was 24C...after a high of 27C today.

Perihelion · 26/07/2018 23:50

Clearly incapable of spelling and sentence formation due to bring too excited Blush

beenrumbled · 27/07/2018 07:01

We missed any storms yesterday, too far west I think.

Too hot t sleep last night, and its sunny and warm again now.

melting, sweaty and grumpy here this morning.

Silvercatowner · 27/07/2018 07:13

melting, sweaty and grumpy here this morning.

Here too - SE, and a big morning at work today. :(
Nothing on the radar for the next few hours as far as I can see.
We DESERVE some big storms. C'mon weather god, be fair!

rainbowruthie · 27/07/2018 07:29

Oh yes, bring on the storms...….please

897654321abcvrufhfgg · 27/07/2018 07:54

One huge clap of thunder and torrential downpour lasting less than 5 mins here at 2.44 in beds. Not even enough to wake up the kids. Grass looks greener though??!!

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 08:00

We've had a shower already this morning with a few rumbles of thunder so hopefully that's a start!

I think those in the south/SE/central areas wanting rain/a good thunderstorm should be luckier today. Once the heat gets going, it should set them off, especially this afternoon.

JeezYouLoon · 27/07/2018 08:02

I'm in North Yorkshire and it's muggy and hot, just had a few rumbles of thunder. We need a storm!

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 08:05

TheWeatherOutlook on whether temperature records might be broken today but there's doubt from others, as the storms might dampen things down too much.

Reminder of netweather's radar and lightningmaps.

SimonBridges · 27/07/2018 09:50

It’s 28° here already. The plan today is to stay in the house. Although I might go to a nicely air conditioned John Lewis for a cup of tea.

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 10:34

Sounds like a good plan, Simon!

Updated weather warnings from the metoffice, now includes Sunday for when the wind/rain arrives in the SW.

Perihelion · 27/07/2018 11:37

From last night's storm I learned that lightning maps don't register cloud to cloud or intracloud lightning.
Don't know if we'll get more today.

LapdanceShoeshine · 27/07/2018 12:09

Looking forward to Sunday Grin

(Though sad for people on their hols near the coast)

Have you seen the weather forecast for next week?!
GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 13:27

Yes Sunday could bring some welcome/unwelcome rain for a few areas!

Clouds have started forming here and it's a rather humid 31C

GloriaSmud · 27/07/2018 13:48

Updated weather warning from the metoffice Amber Thunderstorm Warning for E.Anglia and parts of Lincolnshire.

educatingarti · 27/07/2018 14:27

So I am camping in North Norfolk for a week from tomorrow. Am I going to need a fleece too as well as a thick hoody? ( Both seem ridiculous at present)
