gleegeek ~ I'd probably head for the SW, Wales, maybe the Lake District and up towards Scotland (if you want to go that far!) The coasts of those areas are probably a bit cooler still if you want to be near the sea.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 10:47

I agree with SW, not quite the potential for any stray weather fronts as the nw.

Skyejuly · 25/07/2018 14:16

October!?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 14:29

Remember that is in reference to average temperature for that point in the year and it's all about the balance of probabilities.

The reason the met office don't refer to that page more publicly is because it can be hard to interpret in a meaningful way. If there is a low probability of something happening and it happens, it doesn't actually mean they were wrong, just the less probable thing happened iyswim.

TuesdaysAreGrim · 25/07/2018 14:48

OYBBK just to confirm though, that doesn't mean it's going to be late twenties/high thirties until October does it? Just that it's going to be warmer than average.

Everything here is on fire.
All of Suffolk is on fire.

My friend is a volunteer fire fighter and is spending all day at field fires. I’m thankful that we have nothing like the dreadful fires in Greece but this is still bad.

flopsyrabbit1 · 25/07/2018 16:08

does anybody know of a website that tells you what are the current temps in the UK?

thanks

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 16:21

exactly Tuesdays.

Mat office twitter is saying we could reach 37c in parts on Friday.

LighthouseSouth · 25/07/2018 16:28

@SimonBridges

yes I heard about this from Twitter but I haven't heard it anywhere else so I was hoping it's not too bad.

This is just today.
Everything is on fire.
Is was in the paper a few days ago that the region hadn’t seen significant rainfall for over 40 days. Bury St Edmunds has had no rain for 54 days.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 16:56

I'm astonished we aren't getting fires here. Most years we do. Thank goodness we haven't so far.

GFS has shown an interesting low pressure affecting western parts this weekend with rain for many in the west. Cooler too. Temporary blip though. It should be kept an eye on.

I'm going to be away for a few days without internet after today. (the horror)

Whatthefoxgoingon · 25/07/2018 17:04

Stay safe OYBBK!

I’m not holding my breath for rain this Friday. The last lot missed our house completely. Remember when water used to fall from the sky? Ah those were the days....

GloriaSmud · 25/07/2018 20:12

25C here (Leicester) and it seems especially humid this evening. Metoffice has us down for thunderstorms from 2pm onwards tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Enjoy your few days away, OYBBK.

Delatron · 25/07/2018 20:20

I’m going in to London tomorrow. The app on my phone keeps increasing the temperature. Now says 36 degrees. The tube will be fun!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/07/2018 20:20

Thanks Gloria.

GloriaSmud · 25/07/2018 20:23

Could be a bit choppy in the Irish Sea? (midday Sunday)

Have you seen the weather forecast for next week?!
PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/07/2018 20:23

The tube is murder Delatron. Can you use buses?

Delatron · 25/07/2018 20:30

Ahh Perfectly that is what I’m worried about and it hasn’t hit 36 yet in London this year so tomorrow really is the worst day to be on the tube.

I need to get from Marylebone to Waterloo. Off to investigate buses!

Delatron · 25/07/2018 20:44

Thank you perfect, so helpful. I think I can walk to Baker Street and get a bus from there. Hurrah!

SquirmOfEels · 25/07/2018 20:47

I'm in London, and the temp now according to the Met Office is 29c, but feels like 30c. Lowest overnight 23c.temperatures forecast for tomorrow reach 31c, but will feel a degree or two hotter.

TFL journey planner using bus only recommends going from Marylebone to Euston (18, 30 or 205) and then changing bus there to Aldwych (168, 68 or 59). It then suggests another bus to Waterloo, but I think you could just walk over from there.

Delatron · 25/07/2018 20:51

Thanks squirm I definitely this bus is the way forward and I’ll find a way!

Be interesting to see what the temp gets to tomorrow. I’ll quite fancy jumping in the Thanes I’m sure!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/07/2018 20:54

Just keep your mouth shut, did you see what happened to David Walliams? 💩

Delatron · 25/07/2018 20:55

😬. Just need to avoid the sewage!
