Thanks Gloria. It didn’t rain! Was a warm, muggy evening and hotter today in Bucks.

Wonder when we’ll get some rain! Keeps changing on the forecast but maybe end of this week.

ClosdesMouches · 14/07/2018 17:40

NW England here.
It rained yesterday morning for the first time in weeks in my area. (Friends who live 20 miles north from me had some rain in early June. We didn't here).

As forecast by OYBBK we had a thunderstorm late afternoon, nothing scary but at least it brought more rain. But we need even more.

Today is rather warm again, temperature outdoors is 26 C.

Perihelion · 14/07/2018 17:55

Just back from a week in the NW Highlands. We had clouds, drizzle, even some proper rain, wind and more sun than expected. Not really roasting, apart from yesterday and had the odd experience of getting back home and it being warmer (24C ) in Edinburgh....which apparently had 2 hours of rain yesterday.

I've never seen the lochs and rivers so low and lots of burns completely dried up.

Redundancy1 · 14/07/2018 19:40

Went on a walk by a brook today, except there's no brook! No water voles.

Have to venture into central London this week for an interview so I really hope the Tube has cooled down, the train bit of the journey should be okay.

Really need some rain.

Mof3K · 16/07/2018 00:22

We London here. We've had no rain for weeks now.
I work in a large London hospital and I honestly don't know how much longer I can do the commute and a days work in the heat.
It's just not dropping and I'm exhausted.
When oh when is the end in sight?? Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/07/2018 07:55

I think for many in the south and south east there may well not be any rainfall again this week. Temperatures will peg bag a few degrees before building again this weekend. I don't really see an end in sight at present.

Other parts of the country will generally see lots of fine weather, but there will be the odd bout of heavy rain showers.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/07/2018 08:05

Should have added, some may see showers on Friday inthe SE.

HesterShaw1 · 16/07/2018 11:08

We just had a heavy shower this morning, first proper rain since May.

It was lovely :)

LapdanceShoeshine · 16/07/2018 11:13

Rain on and off all day here, Hester.

Most years I grumble about NW England weather but I’m grateful today Grin

major variation in temps forecast for next week in my area

one site saying 22 - 23

another saying 29-30

magimedi · 17/07/2018 08:40

Still hot & dry here (South coast).

Also incredibly windy the past 4/5 days. Yesterday afternoon it must have been a minimum of Force 4 or even 5. Gets quite irritating.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2018 09:32

It looks as though a north west/south east split is developing, with the NE generally cooler and more variable and the SE remaining hot and dry bar any brief showers or perhaps thunderstorms.

I saw them say something similar on Met Office, what does this mean for the South West? Would that be more similar weather to the SE? Not that I'm obsessing over the weather for our holiday or anything! Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2018 14:53

You've a lot of fine weather to come :) there may well be the occasional less great day, but it's looking pretty good over the next couple of weeks at the moment,

ShowOfHands · 17/07/2018 15:07

Poor Norfolk. Will it ever rain again? I can't remember what rain looks or feels like. Everything is yellow.

JuliaSevern · 17/07/2018 15:11

Should move to Scotland. Seems to be some there

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2018 16:52

I guess it has to rain again at some time Show!

Redundancy1 · 17/07/2018 20:12

So what do our resident experts think for next week, London/Essex? I'm seeing 28, 29, does that sound right or is it too early to tell?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/07/2018 20:33

That sounds right at the moment Redundancy.

LighthouseSouth · 17/07/2018 20:37

Thanks Kitten.

dementedma · 17/07/2018 20:40

a few showers here in Scotland and cooler, but still very dry and warm compared to what we normally have.
Am off to London tomorrow and then Eastbourne at the weekend. am I in for a horrible shock?

magimedi · 17/07/2018 22:08

dementedma - Bring your costume to Eastbourne - the swimming is amazing - warmest I've ever known it in the last 12+ years.

You won't boil - there is a breeze all the time. It's nearly perfect!

dementedma · 17/07/2018 22:39

ooh, never even thought of costume!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/07/2018 14:42

Continuing very dry in the models in the south and east. Temps look to get into the low to mid 30s again next week.

WhoKnowsWhereTheW1neGoes · 18/07/2018 16:48

It's been lovely here today, about 22C and light cloud. Not looking forward to temperatures rising again.
