met office be prepared warnings nothing too major for most, though some western and southern coastal areas could have quite a lively night tomorrow night.

It's wet and very windy here in Cumbria.
I'm waiting for ds to get in from work, he's about 40 mins away now. I will feel better when he's home.

UnitedKungdom · 02/01/2018 23:18

I'm in NI and it's been quite frightening here. I hadn't heard anything was even coming! We've lost our TV Ariel which is incredible considering some of the serious storms we've had in the last few years doing no damage.

GloriaSmud · 02/01/2018 23:21

Wind has started getting up in the last 1/2 hour. 'Tis sounding a little gusty now (Leicester)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2018 23:23

I'd collect it perhaps, the worst is due after midnight in your area.

A few gusts of 90mph being reported in the usual exposed areas.

Our bin is out, we've got nowhere to store it except right by out gate and it's full :-( I hope it stays full :-(

MrSlant · 02/01/2018 23:29

It's pretty windy on the W coast of Wales, I have candles and torches at the ready as we've already lost power in the last couple of days. We had the river over topping its' banks at high tide earlier, really hope my friends who live down there had their flood defences out.

I quite like being warm in bed and listening to everything rattle!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2018 23:31

Me too MrSlant. I just wish the curtain would flap around so much!

Just heard either our ageing gate break or a wheelie bin go over - I'm not going out to investigate until morning though.

MrSlant · 02/01/2018 23:42

Ah I have anchored the bottom of my blinds with cushions!

MrSlant · 02/01/2018 23:42

No, stay in and warm bizzle.

Too right, nothing is going to get me out there even if there is going to rubbish all over the place as the bins are both full.

perhapstomorrow · 02/01/2018 23:47

Thanks badkitten bins have been moved so will rest a bit better knowing they won't cause an accident. Just worried about all the trees we are surrounded by now!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2018 23:48

with any luck it will all have vanished bizzle Grin

dd made it home ok, soaked to the skin, said it was a good job there were no cars around Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2018 23:50

well done perhaps :)

I'm going to try and get some sleep now, but for those who haven't been in the weather section of mn before, welcome!

South Northumberland on the coast, not windy, was raining earlier but has stopped, not too cold.

perhapstomorrow · 02/01/2018 23:51

Just seen this on Twitter. Not sure how reliable the source is though.

It's not going to stay here if the noise outside is anything to go by Grin

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/01/2018 23:55

We've lost our fence panels here in Cumbria. I sent dh out to do something with them so they don't blow around and hit the car or anything else. I don't know/care what he did with them but he says they shouldn't blow around and damage things.

I opened the front door earlier and dd's bedroom door and window flew open (I think she narrowly saved the books on her windowsill from blowing out)

LineysRumBaba · 02/01/2018 23:55

It's getting louder if anything ...

MomToWedThorFriday · 03/01/2018 00:10

Much more settled here now. Hoping it’s passing rather than a massive eye!

WalkingWolly · 03/01/2018 00:12

Very worried about the scaffolding outside my house, it’s being battered by the oak tree. Scaffolding is quite strong yes?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/01/2018 00:14

It is walking :) does it have netting?
