Starts tomorrow Xmas Grin will be wildly inaccurate this far out of course, but tomorrow Christmas eve comes into gfs range. Hoorah!

How far north in Scotland? I'm hilly and pretty north but often North is classed as Perth. I'd love some snow.
Thick frost here this morning. Weather here crazy just now. So icy the other morning the car couldn't get grip on the road, the odd blizzard. Next day it was 13 degrees.

GloriaSmud · 13/12/2015 10:49

Titsalina Xmas Grin I'd take a dinghy anyway ~ if it rains it gets used in the usual way but if it snows, you can use it as a sledge!

Until we possibly get some decent snow, I'm getting my 'snowfix' looking at the scenes here (Rovaniemi, Finland) and the Icehotel in Sweden. 'Tis all very snowy and festive at the moment!

nannynick · 13/12/2015 19:21

Thanks for including 23rd Dec.

YouMakeMyDreams - I wonder that as well, as I am heading North East of Perth so may go mountain route or may the much longer route not going too high.

For now the snowgate is open at Braemar and no snow. Will it stay that way or will the snow come?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2015 19:28

at the moment north is where I am waving my hands vaguely across a map. Grin As it will probably be all different tomorrow, there isnt too much point in pretending accuracy.

23rd Some snow in the northern half of Scotland, elsewhere drier, mild in England, especially in the south.

Christmas Eve mild everywhere, very wet in parts of Scotland

Christmas day wet and mild.

Boxing day wet and mild

Xmas Sad

Nannynick from bitter experience I would say avoid the mountain route if you can. It is always bad. We were in the Cairngorms at end of may first weekend in June and had snow Hmm that was around Braemar. There has been a dump of snow overnight right over the area and the problem is you can start your journey and the weather can change very quickly.
When are you travelling?

And everywhere surrounding me had snow last night I happen to live in what seems to be a tiny pocket of the area that didn't I want some snow Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/12/2015 07:23

23rd Farily mild. Snow showers in northern Scotland.

Christmas Eve showery, mild, snow for hillier parts of Scotland.

Christmas Day wet, mild for most. Susceptible parts of Scotland continuing their theme.

Boxing Day cold a little further south into northern England, otherwise continuing the theme.

I will be leaving Hamilton on morning of 24th to head over mountains or more likely go the long way via Aberdeen. They had snow Sunday night, saw some nice pictures on Monday of the area.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/12/2015 07:29

nice snow pic! Down here it is all grey wet gloom.

23rd Mild, any snow would be confined to Scottish mountains.

Christmas Eve Mild and rain for all at some point.

Christmas day wet, windy, mild.

Boxing Day a little cooler for the northern half of the UK, winds easing.

Sorry :(

'Tis all so meh and mild at the moment. The grass is growing but I can't cut it (and cutting it at this time of year is just wrong anyway!) because it's too muddy and my next door neighbours bulbs that he has in pots, are beginning to poke through.
I think there are signs at the moment of it turning a bit colder towards the New Year (but the GFS was saying that about Christmas and that doesn't look it it's going to happen now, so will probably all change Xmas Sad)

GloriaSmud · 16/12/2015 13:43

Guardian report saying that a White Christmas is looking unlikely (including a picture of daffodils flowering at the moment Xmas Shock)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/12/2015 14:13

until eastern Europe goes cold we dont have much prospect for anything long lasting I think.

The council have mown some grass down this way (North hampshire). So has the really organised bloke at the allotment. Bulbs poking through too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/12/2015 07:23

How can they mow without leaving soggy muddy grooves?

All from GFS this morning

23rd Mild and windy, some showers.

Christmas Eve wet windy, mild

Christmas day colder in Scotland, otherwise, wet, windy mild.

Boxing day wet, colder from northern midlands up.

New Years eve tentative signs of high pressure building to the East. This is good news :) if it were to occur it would allow eastern Europe to cool, not quite there yet for us, but some signs of cooler weather perhaps.

New Years day Mild and wet, but still signs of high pressure to our east (looking weak, but something to watch)

megletthesecond · 17/12/2015 07:30

It looked like a push along mower had been used (small area, not a playing field), not the ride on mower.

Perihelion · 17/12/2015 08:09

8am and dark outside and 13C. One of the dogs has started shedding it's winter coat....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/12/2015 08:16

Its daft this! I've just been outside in shirt sleeves and it wasn't cold. 12C down here.

23rd Windy, some showers, not quite so bonkersly mild away from the south coast.

Christmas Eve wet windy, mild, but not quite as mild as at the moment.

Christmas day much colder in northern Scotland, otherwise mild. some rain perhaps for northern England.

Boxing day Perhaps some decent snow fall in northern Scotland, the rest of us a sharp contrast with mild.

New Years eve high pressure in the wrong place this time - stupidly mild.

New Years day mild.

grump.

Ugh,

BrianButterfield · 18/12/2015 11:02

It's Christmas jumper here today and everyone's overheatjng! Too warm for jumpers!

PhoenixReisling · 18/12/2015 13:23

Barhumbug!

The weather is weird and I don't like it this warm....

reminisces about cold frosty days and snow in winter months

Perihelion · 18/12/2015 14:13

Got up to 14.3C in Edinburgh yesterday. Completely mad, especially as I'm sure we had a day at the start of June when it was 8C. Have we moved to the southern hemisphere?
Least it's not pishing down.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/12/2015 10:13

23rd Windy, coldish in parts of Scotland, elsewhere mild, some snow showers over high ground in northern Scotland.

Christmas Eve wet windy, mild, perhaps some snow over high ground in northern Scotland.

Christmas day colder from the northern midlands up, otherwise mild. rain for southern England.

Boxing day proper cold in northern Scotland, the rest of us a sharp contrast with mild weather for England. Fair bit of rain in northern England.

New Years eve away from souther coasts, more average temps.

New Years day more average temps.

GFS once again showing eastern Europe cooling down at the end of the model run. Some hints I think that January may start to become more seasonal.

I feel like the weather has barely changed all year (apart from the odd storm thrown in).
