Going by the latest run, I think the weekend after next (from Sunday 20th) onwards into Christmas week looks 'interesting' now (but it could be that weather troll again!)

nannynick · 10/12/2015 20:31

Snow more likely in the north of Scotland.

What is the definition of North of Scotland? Are we talking north of Inverness or are we looking further south, such as Perth?

Weather troll on the shelf - taunting us Xmas Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/12/2015 21:34

I am not going to speculate. Will be all change tomorrow!

Really hoping we at least get a bit of frost! The mild weather just isn't festive.

keepmoving · 10/12/2015 22:00

Thank you Kitten. Even DH has asked when your Christmas forecast is starting.....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/12/2015 08:21

boo hiss. Feel like we are in a panto with the weather. Yesterdays forecast was but a troll.

Christmas Eve really wet in the northern half of the UK, very windy too. Mild everywhere.

Christmas day damp and cool.

Boxing day damp and cool.

The general trend is supported by the ensembles for mild and damp (wet further north) I'm afraid. Sorry everyone. Xmas Sad

MorrisZapp · 11/12/2015 08:31

Nah, damp is good. Anything that keeps me on the sofa guilt free will do :),

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/12/2015 08:33

true!

I'm sure no one will blame you if we don't have a white Christmas OYBBK Grin though if you do have a way of controlling the weather...

GloriaSmud · 11/12/2015 13:11

Think the weather troll is back and forecasting cold for Christmas week Xmas Grin

It'll all be back to normal for the later model runs Xmas Hmm
(still hoping it's on to something though)

JillJ72 · 11/12/2015 14:30

Following [santa]Brew

megletthesecond · 11/12/2015 18:10

oybbk is the weather remaining mild in the south (hampshire) for the foreseeable future? I know someone with a broken boiler and above freezing is ok, but any lower and it's a pain. Should be mended in a week or less. Thanks
.

Toraleistripe · 11/12/2015 19:59

Ugh. Wet and mild. Horrid!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/12/2015 21:38

meglet, yes, Id say so until closer to christmas when it chops and changes.

Christmas Eve Masses of precipitation, wet down south, snow for some in Scotland, esp over higher ground. Windy.

Christmas Day Much colder as the rain clears through, the south still blighted with rain.

Boxing Day Dry and cold.

Right through the model run eastern europe stays unseasonably warm though, so no signs of any deep cold forming yet.

megletthesecond · 12/12/2015 12:00

Thanks oybbk.

The dc's are funny, always asking when it's going to snow and are mightily peeved when I tell them it's not forecast yet.

nannynick · 12/12/2015 13:03

Could the 23rd be added in to the forecast? I'm travelling that day up through lake district, it is usually very wet!

seasidesally · 12/12/2015 16:46

my friend thats German but lives here said last week there weather was unseasonably warm, from her mother

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/12/2015 21:11

sure, will start adding it in tomorrow nannynick :) from friday I will be a lot less time pressured. Feel like I have been short changing everyone recently, but too much to do, so little time at present.

OK, I'm beginning to think that 'weather troll' that was messing up the model runs might be on to something ~ to my amateur eyes I think it's looking colder (or at least less mild) for next week. Could there be a possibility of snow for some parts on Christmas Day?

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/12/2015 08:35

We're in Wales for Christmas this year, Pembrokeshire, I'd love to know if we'll be underwater or not so I know wether to pack a dinghy Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2015 08:43

I'm lazing in bed atm and cant do a proper forecast here, but you are right Gloria, the cold returns again in the models :)

OP posts:
Perihelion · 13/12/2015 09:37

Woke up to proper frost this morning Grin -3C which is cold for this bit of Edinburgh as we're almost at sea level and very close to the Forth. Think there's a warning for ice and freezing fog today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2015 09:39

23rd December cooler than of late, apart from for the SW. Wet, snow over hills, loads of snow over hilly northern scotland.

Christmas Eve SW and south coast remains relatively mild. Lots of precipitation but quite likely to be a messy mix for many of sleet and rain, perhaps snow over hilly ground from the midlands up. Freezing in much of Scotland.

Christmas day south and west remains wet and temps quite mild, further north, cold.

Boxing day, the cold tends to retreat north somewhat. Wet for many, snowy in Scotland.
