The low down on the hot weather.

So summer seems to be upon us :) A little rain for some today to get through.

Tuesday sees the first real heat, with temps in the mid 20s for many in England and Wales away from the coast. I think some coastal areas could be disappointing because of relatively cool sea temps. A very warm night. Scotland ranges from high teens to low 20s.

Wednesday - highs in the high 20's low 30s for much of England and Wales (away from some coasts), Mid 20s for central and much of western Scotland. Another very warm night.
An interesting feature is the strong winds, gusting to around 30mph. With fairly lowish humdity, its going to feel quite Morrocan I think!

Thursday is a little cooler, with some heavy showers and perhaps thunderstorms.

Friday and Saturday heat up again, but the real heat doesnt at the moment look to extend quite so far north. Its quite a way ahead though and its not a nice stable high, which is easy to predict but instead a plume of hot air, with some lows to our west, which makes for quite an unstable weather system. (hence the rapid change in fortunes we've had this week) so I'm not going to hazard even a vague forecast beyond then!

we missed the centre of the storm, but it was only a mile or so away. there was a lot of rumbling thunder that woke lots of people up. I could hear windows in other flats shutting! there sounded ike a lot of rain. the double glazing is pretty good in the living room so hearing it meant it was heavy.

4.45pm and 28.5 here. Where has yesterday's fresh breeze gone.

31 in Suffolk at the moment. I've been sat at the Harbour though, it's cool there. Back inland now and much hotter, although still a good breeze.

Really hot here in North London too.

I usually enjoy storms but last night was scared of the lightning. Will be even more scared now I've read this about a local family family flees lightning hit house

passing thunderstorm this morning on the Romney Marsh, didn't amount to too much really. I'm actually quite pleased I get to wear jeans today. Its a comfortable 18° in the rain.

We've got 'threatening looking' dark clouds forming to the west so think we're in for something thundery soon (Leicester).

Heavy rain and thunder here now too - but I am at work and I can't enjoy it!

Well that turned into a big fat load of nothing! Quick thundery shower and that was it. But there are still dark clouds to the west and it's showing up here, a great clump approaching Leicester so possibly something's a-brewing again.

well that great big lump was quite heavy rain with what looked like cloud to ground lightening, and a fabulous double rainbow with the bottom rainbow comprising a full rainbow and half a rainbow attached to the bottom (roygbivygbiv) and the top inverted colours. (vibgyor)

Yes, we got the heavy rain (but no lightning/thunder) followed by a lovely double rainbow.

Unfortunately, there have been two deaths in Wales this afternoon as the result of lightning strikes.

More thunder storms according to the local news for the North west tonight. Bbc weather website doesn't seem to agree though. It does feel like it might be building up for one though.
