So summer seems to be upon us :) A little rain for some today to get through.

Tuesday sees the first real heat, with temps in the mid 20s for many in England and Wales away from the coast. I think some coastal areas could be disappointing because of relatively cool sea temps. A very warm night. Scotland ranges from high teens to low 20s.

Wednesday - highs in the high 20's low 30s for much of England and Wales (away from some coasts), Mid 20s for central and much of western Scotland. Another very warm night.
An interesting feature is the strong winds, gusting to around 30mph. With fairly lowish humdity, its going to feel quite Morrocan I think!

Thursday is a little cooler, with some heavy showers and perhaps thunderstorms.

Friday and Saturday heat up again, but the real heat doesnt at the moment look to extend quite so far north. Its quite a way ahead though and its not a nice stable high, which is easy to predict but instead a plume of hot air, with some lows to our west, which makes for quite an unstable weather system. (hence the rapid change in fortunes we've had this week) so I'm not going to hazard even a vague forecast beyond then!

'Interesting' for thunder?!?

The warning page put the risk area N of a line roughly from Anglesey to the Humber, and S of a horizontalish line through Scotland just S of Edinburgh.

Any change to that?

(Half heard a mention whilst I had Wimbledon on, but wasn't really paying attention; just caught the word 'thunder').

BlackeyedSusan · 30/06/2015 18:26

's'ot

30 degrees in the kitchen.

Perihelion · 30/06/2015 18:31

Traveled back from hot London to a surprisingly 25c, cloudy and muggy Edinburgh today. If the heat here holds the thunderstorms tomorrow should be fab.
I'm delighted that due to having left my house in a rush, I didn't open my curtains/blinds and coming back after a week my house is beautiful cool. Makes a weird change to be keeping the doors closed to keep heat out Grin
Very pleased as well to be back North before the bonkers heat hit London.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/06/2015 20:01

AuntieStella, that seems reasonable. There should be some popping up overnight (infact, fairly soon) along the south coast. Tomorrow afternoon could bring a risk to the SE

On the good side, I have washed almost every pair of curtains in the house and they are all dry!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/06/2015 20:38

What's thursday morning looking like for Kent, Kitten? Its nursery sports day 9-10.30am and at the moment its looking quite dismal - hot, sticky, wet Sad. Is there any chance at all of the rain coming overnight instead or waiting til late morning?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/06/2015 21:18

it looks much cooler (temps low to mid 20s) but possibly some heavy showers around.

So today is our extra warm day before a distinct cool down tomorrow.

A risk of thunderstorms anywhere but in the SE, EA and much of the Midlands northwards these thunderstorms could be severe. Severe is defined as large hail, flash flooding, sudden strong winds, frequent c-g lightning and perhaps an isolated tornado.

Just to make it clear. I'm not saying that there will be severe storms, just that there is the potential. Nor am I saying that a severe storm would have all of the above!!

A beautiful morning here. Take it easy, where every you are.

Radio 4 reckon it could be the warmest day since 2006

I heard that too (about it being the warmest day for 10 years) on Classic FM this morning. 'Tis 26C here at the moment with quite a nice breeze.

I've just spoken to our next door neighbour. She said it's too hot. She's from Turkey! (I do know that Turkish winters can be harsh but it still made me Smile)

GloriaSmud · 01/07/2015 09:34

Metoffice this morning have issued a Level 3 'heatwave action' for today - 9am tomorrow.

Namelesswonder · 01/07/2015 09:36

Pleasant 15 degrees in Edinburgh, sun occasionally peaks out from behind the clouds!

magimedi · 01/07/2015 10:51

dementedma · 01/07/2015 10:59

Please don't rain in Edinburgh this afternoon. I am going to the Royal Garden Party!!! Warmish here in Fife but a lot of cloud

mankyscotslass · 01/07/2015 11:06

Todays 4th load of washing on the line in Manchester.

Weather forecast originally said heavy rain from lunchtime, but now we have showers from around about 15.00.

I think we will be putting the aircon units in the kids bedrooms tonight.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/07/2015 12:08

TORRO have issued a Tornado watch.

I hope Saturday won't be hot, I have to be on the Tube for a long time....no other route.

GloriaSmud · 01/07/2015 14:11

'Tis a 'orribly muggy and 35C here. We've had a warning on the local E. Midlands news/weather that there might be something of a thundery nature this afternoon. There are a couple of lightning strikes showing up here and here at the moment.

mankyscotslass · 01/07/2015 14:29

A few drops of rain in central Manchester earlier but I n my way back to the burbs and it's glorious again.
