fortunately our water was clean - I live about 50m from the seafront - so as the tide went out so did the floodwater. We were spared a second flooding high tide, it just came over the wall that time. Others had contaminated water, those with oil tanks and those with cesspits.

I think we got off lightly. I feel desperately sorry for those with rivers close by - the worst we got was a little sand. I lost a lot, but nothing of sentimental value.

What's happening Monday??

Oybbk I need to get to Southampton for 9:30 tomorrow (ffs will probably take three hours!) is it going to be horrendous?

gaggiagirl · 07/01/2014 14:59

Will it snow on Monday?. I like snow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2014 15:31

Spotty, it should be fine tomorrow until the evening.

There is a small chance for snow Monday. No details yet. A little secondary low pressure spins up and it might just be cold enough for snow but it looks very marginal.

I love not having to scrape ice off the car windows in the morning.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/01/2014 16:47

Thanks. I hate the m27 during rush hour as it is so glad we haven't got to add torrential rain into the mix Grin

JillJ72 · 07/01/2014 17:13

OYBBK - I've been reading for a long while now, love these threads and the (amateur but brilliant) help you provide.

I'd just like to say I would like dry weather on Monday. Funeral. It won't be pleasant so please please please weather, be just a little bit nice, to make it just a little bit more bearable.

Bucks.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2014 19:46

I'm sorry about the funeral Jill.
I'll update about Monday tomorrow to see if the signal has got any clearer...

Thank you! Based on current trends it'll either be blowing a gale and lashing down, or bright blue skies. Hoping for settled weather Fri-Sun as well as DH flying into Europe on business. I think we could all do with quieter weather, dry out a bit and gather some strength!

Varya · 07/01/2014 20:22

Heavy snow in US travelling East? Towards UK .....

youarewinning · 07/01/2014 20:37

Finally got in and got boy to bed.

This morning we had winds, then rain - read as monsoon! - then thunder and lightening and then a hailstorm with hail like ice cubes. Then sun.

All in the space of half an hour Grin

South Hampshire.

youarewinning · 07/01/2014 20:38

spotty where in Southampton? Which route? It's been pretty bad when it lashes down as rush hour on M27 east starts about 7.30! Until about 9!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/01/2014 20:43

General hospital. Need to be there for appt at 9:45? Clear run it only takes just over an hour but I know from experience it will take us a lot longer.

I was thinking of leaving super early and then just sitting in costa until the appt Grin don't think I will persuade dp to leave much earlier than 7:30 though Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 07/01/2014 20:43

Oh and we will be coming a3 onto m27 Smile

youarewinning · 07/01/2014 20:47

The flooding issues around Southampton have been around Redbridge. If you came off junction 5 and into Southampton that way you should avoid that. I tend to come off at junction 2 and go back on myself for shopping etc and tend to use A27 in when I go to Royal South Hants.
I would guesstimate 7.30am being fine - especially now the hind head tunnel is open!

Varya · 07/01/2014 20:51

Wild weather and a bit of local flooding not too serious!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/01/2014 20:55

I go to the royal south hants, this is for dd though Hmm

We won't be joining as far north as Hindhead, I love the tunnel though Grin I can't remember which junction we go off at (sat navs stop you paying attention!) but I think it's the one before the ford factory?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2014 21:06

Varya they've had lots of snow without it being snow here. It gets warmed up as it crosses the Atlantic. Our cold tends to come from the east or the north east.

My DS stops me paying attention! But yes that sounds like junction 5! By the airport Grin

GobbySadcase · 07/01/2014 21:51

Page I'm following on Facebook is setting a lot of store by the Polar Vortex and some Canadian models?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2014 21:59

Which page is that Gobby?

London & The South East Weather

BlackeyedShepherdswatchsheep · 07/01/2014 23:48

we had a reasonably good day here in the w mids. it did rain at school pick up time though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/01/2014 08:43

Thanks Gobby, I'll take a look :)

So today already there is some very heavy rain lurking off the SW. I'm so sorry guys.
By the time it moves to the SE it should be much petered out but for this in Wales and the Midlands including the East Midlands I'm afraid rain is gong to very much be a feature by the end of the day. I think the highest level of problems will be for Wales and the SW where you really don't need it.

There is def potential for snow next week. Not super cold but temps around zero or so perhaps and remaining very unsettled. Am about to go off out but will update properly this afternoon.
