It's often stormy where we are but have to say this has been a particularly sustained spell and has caused some damage to the house. Think it is just the repeated nature of the storms causing the problems.

To be serious... we've got water coming in through bits of the house that have never leaked before. Yes, it's Grade II and therefore likely to be wonky, but it's getting way past a joke now.

NE Wilts.

Very big gusts of winds here in Bournemouth. I can hear it howling and something being blown around in the garden. Sounds like a chair !

Sorry to hear so many of you are suffering.

OYBBK I hope it hasn't got any worse at yours?! Wine

Friends still 'at risk' but finally being given a bit of help by the water company.

The roads to work weren't as bad today as they were last week, but there's still alot of surface water.

Central South East.

Morning all. We had a night of heavy showers and strong winds. The theme will continue for many today esp in the SE and the West midlands. There may be some respite away from the far SE and the west midlands for a while this afternoon.

Tomorrow may be pretty pleasant until rain moves in from the SW in the afternoon spreading to all areas of the north Midlands south.

Heavy rain, strong winds and some pretty good thunder and lightning here last night and this morning, some of the loudest rain I have heard (probably because the wind was pelting it against my bedroom window. Not sure if I can get out today, just checked the traffic news and quite a few roads are closed, one due to a land slide, dh has the day off work so I was hoping we could hit the sales but not much chance of getting there Sad.

Heavy rain in Hampshire at the moment. We had a terrific thunderstorm yesterday evening. It made the house shake.

We had some incredible thunder in the night as well in Cornwall Kate. I sleep Luke the dead and it still woke me up. There was quite a lively squall with it.

Like the dead not Luke. I don't know who Luke is.

Managed to get to PO at 9am with no rain. Dog walk at 9.15 was drizzly. Now pelting down and so dark in the house.

I didn't understand how being flooded affects more than just your property - until I was flooded at the beginning of last month. I was lucky, just 2ft of sea water through the place - others have lost everything. 3 houses in the road have to be demolished and others in the village will have to be too. Living in a property that's drying out and everything in piles really gets on your nerves after a month!

Grin Hester.

rubycon- thats terrible. We had a house we rent out flood 4 years ago due to a burst pipe that was undetected as the tenant had gone on holiday and switched all the heating off. The pipes froze then burst. The entire house except the bathroom had to be re-plastered, re-floored etc. It was awful. I can't imagine a whole load of seawater rampaging through. How long did it stick around for? Are you planning to get slot in flood barriers for your doors?

ChippingInWadesIn · 07/01/2014 12:29

youarewinning thank you :)

rubycon - Been there, done that - but with contaminated (ie sewage) water. Absolute nightmare and lots of stuff had to be thrown out due to contamination, which would have been OK if it had been 'clean' water :( I hope you can get it sorted out without too much hassle Wine

It rained quite a bit here last night and was windy. It has alternated between bucketing it down and blue skies today. Friends still holding the water back.

Central south east.

We have a lovely sunny afternoon in Essex after a very windy and wet morning. Unseasonably mild, have spotted daisies and spring flowers sprouting up in parks, though they could be frozen off soon enough as I hear its going to get much colder end of the month going into feb.

I've decided not to look at my damage anymore. If it cascades through the ceiling then i will. Ought to send up dh though to make sure its not about to!

rubycon - a real nightmare :(

MrsClaus- I'm in north dorset Smile, have had a few heavy showers today but nice and sunny at times too! still feels warm! just quickly walked the dog as the sky was starting to look dark ( managed to stay dry).

Why does anyone want snow? I can send some over, it is -22 here today. My car was sliding all over the road this morning due to the snow/ice hybrid. Morning driving is an extreme sport it seems.

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2014 14:38

Rob - its kind of better than your house being under water generally speaking (unless of course you get the more extreme amounts/temps)

Speaking of which. All eyes on Monday. Will it/wont it?????? Looks potentially interesting.
