Oh yes Jelly, my boys are indeed at school in the home of the rain and snow gods Grin. It HAS to be the dampest place on earth, the only reason no scientists have explored the phenomenon is no one actually wants to go there Wink. I do love the M&S in HW, there's a Debenhams there in that row of shops as well now, and next and shops, I do get very excited when I have to go there.

Tornado emoticon would be brilliant!

We've nearly worn through another thread about weather warnings Shock and the end isn't even in sight. Oh boy.

LostInWales 'Tis H'W Smile.. Appointment, then M&S food hall for treats, everytime Grin (you're boys aren't at school in C are they? any hint of snow and it gets it in shedloads, it's got it's own microclimate!)

Aw OYBK, you're a godsend!

Ahh, 'darling are you in the tower at school tomorrow for any lessons' 'Yes, last two of the day, why?' 'just don't sit near the windows ok...'

I second a special award for services to weather, she should have a special badge by her name or are we veering scarily close to tickers here Wink.

Lostinwales, I wish that schools would be more proactive when it is predicted to be that severe. They just need to set themselves clear guidelines of winds=x speed, close.

:) jill, I dont mind doing it at all.

Tomorrow afternoon you could be seeing gusts of around 50-60mph, so not too bad, but enough to be wary of the odd weakened tree giving up. Very wet.

That's a great map link OYBBK. It's also quite a scary map link . Oooh I wish the school would just cancel then I don't have to think!

There should be an award from MN for OBBYK for services to weather forecasting.

N Bucks - some rain, now clear and cold. Weather looks grim tomorrow, driving cross country so will be a test of my 3-month old car's wind response (it's a bit taller than my previous car). Will be taking it easy...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 20:06

oh jellykat - very difficult. You are looking at potential gusts of 80mph inland around that area, with sustained winds of 40, perhaps even 50mph. At the moment the morning looks just about manageable with care.

Remember, the track could move, so dont cancel things tonight, just be prepared tomorrow. I've put dh in charge of making breakfast so I can come straight onto the pc.

Best thing to do if for some reason I can't get to the pc is to use this link being aware that the map quite often under does peak gusts.

Jelly our lovely mountains Grin. OYBBK should Jellykat and I be driving around the Preseli mountains with our precious DC or will we just stay home? (You going to H'W or C Jelly?)

Thank you for that OYBBK and you know I properly mean that without an ounce of sarcasm. My older boys travel parallel to the coast along heavily wooded lanes to a school in a rural area on the 'mountains' (watching Sochi olympics, I realise we can't really claim them as mountains Wink). I'm going to have a good think about picking them up at lunchtime if nothing else. I do worry about them in bad weather travelling every day and the road is already flooded permanently at the moment. What is the best model to be looking at for me to see our area or shall I just post a map on here and you can go 'oooh shiiiit, no, stay home' Grin.

Oh no, West Wales.. i've got a hospital appointment tomorrow, that requires driving over The Preseli mountains, and DS is in the middle of GCSE controlled assessments at school, in the other direction Confused

And the storm on Saturday has also been upgraded with the winds further south than tomorrows forecast and stronger too than the previous run.

Tomorrow, please dont underestimate the strength of the storm if you are in the amber area. I'd really consider whether your journey is necessary. If you are on the west coast of Wales I would actually consider whether you should be taking your kids to school because the peak looks to be around 3-6pm It's the first time I have ever said that on an mn post and I say it with great thought and care. I will update around 7:15am tomorrow morning with the latest information.

Just been out with dog and at 3 degrees already has an icy feel in the air. Sky looks clear too as forecast so could be frosty/icy tomorrow but no snow Smile
