Oh no Bronze :(

Interestingly the heaviest of the rain seems to have gone through Wales and the Midlands, good news for the SW (not so much for southern Wales)

I don't think the winds have been as high as expected either. some really good strong gusts, but long lulls between them. I've seen some pretty bad flooding today though.

Yes, yes I can confirm that a good amount of rain has just passed through Wales . Old village and we are at the bottom of a hill, there's no pavement here just the road,a space for cars, then a little gutter, like half a roof gutter but concrete and on the ground IYSWIM so when it rains very heavily I have to watch it and leap into action, with one of the boys beach spades, when it overflows because of a blade of grass going near it or similar Hmm. Otherwise all the water running down the hill tries to come into the front garden instead. Can I stand down now or is there more to come?

SpottyTeacakes · 08/02/2014 16:04

Both our bins are over. Recycling one is empty but black one has over a weeks worth of waste in it Hmm

HesterShaw · 08/02/2014 16:23

If our power goes off again I'm going to br rather put out. Though it does sound as though we're about to lose the chimney.

HesterShaw · 08/02/2014 16:25

Just had 71 mph.

As OYBBK said it's actually really equally. Just had an awful one but now the sun's out and there's a nice breeze.

Honestly this weather is f*@!ed up!

HesterShaw · 08/02/2014 16:38

Squally not equally.

SE
Had a shock at the fields this afternoon as the first tree is now standing in a lake together with the pagoda and there were sea gulls flying over looking for fishConfused. Little dog and I made a hasty retreat home.
The kids playground was also well swamped. On the way home the gusty winds were scary.

Wind's still horrendous here in Pembs, we're on Amber through the night. Am watching a particular Ash tree next to my house (my bedroom in fact) very carefully Confused.. can see one's about to go further down the road.

threebats · 08/02/2014 18:25

Wind is pretty high in Swansea right now - just had to drop off some stuff for dd and I could barely hold on to the car door - I can hear it almost lifting my flat roof on the extension, it must have switched direction? I have not been bothered about it all day, not heard a thing until now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2014 19:46

It's a bit calmer here now. We went out for lunch at it was a little perturbing to feel the wind vibrate the building we were in.

The wind is howling here in Leicestershire, and has picked up during the evening. This morning was gusty but sunny and we managed a nice ride, and I spent a few hours in the garden this afternoon.

We have been extraordinarily lucky, all the storms so far, have circled around us,and although the ground is waterlogged, the brook has only flooded once this winter. We are due to start lambing at the end of the month and are clearing out every building, just in case we get a repeat of last year.

ChippingInWadesIn · 08/02/2014 21:56

It has been windy here all day, it's really noisy now! I'm wondering if we'll get rain overnight, or a 'night off' Flood Watch.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2014 22:14

It looks like there may be a few more mm in your region chipping but hopefully nothing heavy

OOh you're here - thought you'd gone to give RL a whirl :) Thanks for that, hopefully we'll all get some sleep tonight and tomorrow wont be too stressful. The pumping station seems to be 'holding up' if we don't get any downpours - fingers crossed.

threebats · 09/02/2014 08:14

OYBBK Is this a particularly big storm front or just a very slow moving one? Cause we still have high wind here this morning - last night was bonkers for it. This morning it is slightly calmer but I don't want to go out at all still, it looks rough as a badgers arse. (Swansea/Wales) If it were not for the squally rain that comes now and then, I could wash my entire bedding and hang it out and have it dry in about 10 mins I reckon, that's if I pegged it on with pegs of steel!

puffinnuffin · 09/02/2014 08:44

Big storm last night with massive thunder claps woke me up at 3.30am. It was really windy and still is. (SE)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2014 08:45

It is both a big storm and a slow moving one. It should start to calm down over today.

Rest of the week - Tuesday and Wednesday both look wet. Not horrifically so at the moment, but enough to add to the issues. Doesn't get windy til Wednesday Thursday but at the moment not looking too bad.

There's potential for a pretty nasty low Friday into Saturday. Position and depth are very much in the air so to speak. At the moment the worst of the winds would go through France but giving us plenty of rain.

You should go work for the MET office oybbk and keep your name as well - you'd fast become the most favourite person to be pulled up on Tv to tell everybody what's going on - thank you for the info.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2014 09:27

Awww :) I would love a career in meteorology, but there are some logistical hurdles for me.

leesmum · 09/02/2014 11:16

Does "a nasty low on Fri" mean more rain? Sorry for being a bit dim Blush

digerd · 09/02/2014 12:18

SE

I was woken a few times in the night with noises like low flying aircraft but was the wind.
Dog walk was dry but blustery so went the sheltered route. Still got blown around from some gusts.
Has been sunny for a while but now clouded over though no rain.

I've had a Vinca blooming for months - is the large leaved pink flowered one which grows like a rampant weed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2014 15:45

It does leesmum.
