Wind has picked up here and its pouring down by the way...

starballbunny · 08/02/2014 01:56

Well, we had some nice sunshine and the main road was open just, for a few hours.

Now it's pouring and the roads closed again.

starballbunny · 08/02/2014 01:59

The back roads are still flooded/not flooded almost at random. The fields are so wet, the slightest bit more rain and they are taking it in turns to pour across the road.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/02/2014 07:31

Oybbk I've got friends who are meant to be going to Cornwall for five days on Monday. Should they not go? Or just plan lots of indoor activities?

threebats · 08/02/2014 07:32

Average rain and wind for winter here thus far this morning - am cleaning and pottering ahead of rugby this afternoon. My cats have gone out.

madasa · 08/02/2014 08:36

I hit a pot hole in a pitch black unfamiliar country lane on Thursday eve.
Stupidly, I didn't stop to check it. 20 miles later my tyre burst as I was doing 70mph on the motorway.
Please take care everyone and perhaps take a minute to check if you do hit one.....it was very scary!

digerd · 08/02/2014 08:37

SE.
After deluges again in the early hours the sky is now blue and white.
Forecast here is dry for today Hmm

Antidote · 08/02/2014 09:21

Took ds and dd to the beach yesterday morning in blazing sunshine. Both mothecombe and wembury looked petty battered.

Thanks to all the mn weather threads and my new found obsession with the weather we managed to a. Get out of the house in the only weather window for days and b. Get back to the car seconds before the heavens opened.

DH was very envious as we were leaving, but excelled himself commenting that it was the first day of spring! Don't think so.

Signing in from West Sussex , we did have some blue sky this morning , now we have thunder , lightning , rain and hail .

I am so bored of this now .

I know we have it easy here in comparison to the west country , how the hell they are keeping it together is beyond me .

flootshoot · 08/02/2014 10:53

North Surrey here. Hail at about 9 this morning and we've just had five mins of sideways rain with a couple of rolls of thunder. Stopped for now but it's looking pretty dark.

JerseySpud · 08/02/2014 10:55

Checking in from jersey this morning. Wind is picking up now and is a cold wind. My sister has seen birds on her feeder that indicate cold weather on its way. Just had a red warning again from our met office for wind again.

LostInWales · 08/02/2014 10:57

Well there goes the daylight and here comes the wind, if anyone needs me I will be here under blankets with my whippets and the Winter Olympics.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2014 11:07

Spotty, the weather looks atrocious mid week (again). I don't know the answer to your friends dilemma other than I wouldn't plan outdoor stuff and i personally would be very cautious about going down to the sea. It's very difficult. I'd be phoning up the accommodation and asking for their honest advice about local conditions.

Today is a mix of brighter spells and very high winds when the squally showers hit. Take care.

Thank you for the warning madasa. The floods are hiding the potholes.

travelling you nailed it. If you're not scared, or worried for property and so on, the daily awfulness is just bloody boring now.

lapsedorienteerer · 08/02/2014 11:53

Red Bull manage to use the weather to their advantage www.redbullstormchase.com/mission-3!

BronzeHorseman · 08/02/2014 12:02

Lovely blue skies all morning in middle england but now cloudy and looking like rain. It's been windy all morning.

HesterShaw · 08/02/2014 12:20

Oh look. Sea state phenomenal after all.

JerseySpud · 08/02/2014 12:44

Its still calm here but becoming more cloudy

wearingpurple · 08/02/2014 12:46

Just heard the flood siren sound on Portland again.

travellingwilbury · 08/02/2014 13:34

Those windsurfers are bonkers !

I can't decide whether I admire them or they make me angry at being so stupid .

Marne · 08/02/2014 14:13

Weather has been lovely in dorset, we have just got back from Bournemouth and managed to dodge any showers, started getting a bit windy when we left, sun is shining now at home but wind is strong, much better than we expected.

Marne · 08/02/2014 14:15

Bit we did see a lot of floods, fields that were full of water around lower stour, not great for the farmers Sad.

BronzeHorseman · 08/02/2014 15:11

Stronger winds in middle England now, a tree has just come down on our church :(

Marne · 08/02/2014 15:46

Oh no bronz, I hope the church is not badly damaged, raining here now and I can't decide if I heard thunder or if it was just the power of the wind.

Meglet · 08/02/2014 15:46

Just been for a run in the park. Part of me was admiring the council's tree maintenance team for keeping the 'best' trees growing (only 2 have fallen in a large park) and the other half ran like the bloody wind past them for fear of them finally going over.
