No snow. No more grot. Gentle, warming sun for a bit.

pigsinmud · 31/01/2014 07:52

Yuck. 1c, foggy (can't see my hill!) and damp. I don't want to go outside. I have been out briefly to let my chickens out and it's cold! Does the dog really need a walk? She is still curled up under her blanket!

pigsinmud · 31/01/2014 07:57

And, to rub it in, my cheapy weather station says sun!

Marne · 31/01/2014 09:57

I walked the dog after the school run, sky is grey but managed to walk the dog without getting wet, no rain here yet, what's the betting it will wait till school pick up time?

pigsinmud · 31/01/2014 10:01

Yes I managed a dry walk too. Very grey. Mist has lifted, but the sky was a strange grey/red/yellow colour! Absolutely Marne it always waits until pick up time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2014 11:10

Sorry for the lack of updates. There is obviously a lot of weather due this week, starting with flooding potential in the SW and high winds today as well as tomorrow. Mid week on still looks really very awful.

DH just rang, it's snowing in Chorley!

Marne · 31/01/2014 13:37

Raining now Sad, it's going to be a wet and cold school run.

JerseySpud · 31/01/2014 15:35

Surely you are busy on the cotils now? EH?? Bai Crai!!

Too soding cold and wet!! If its going to be this cold and wet it could at least have the decency to snow so that Jersey comes to a grinding halt again!!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2014 15:37

I'm cold. It was 0.5 degrees and pretty foggy when I left this morning.

HamletsSister · 31/01/2014 15:39

Just cancelled a weekend on the East Coast of Scotland (driving across Scotland and then down the A9) and am glad as the roads are looking like they would be closed anyway by the time we got there.

mankyscotslass · 31/01/2014 16:45

It's bee raining steadily here since lunchtime.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/01/2014 17:02

Our extractor fan is leaking again Hmm

Marne · 31/01/2014 17:19

Some silly farmer decided to dung spread yesterday, now all the shit is running of the field opposite our house and is poring onto the road ( shitty water )

MooncupGoddess · 31/01/2014 18:21

Raining solidly in London since lunchtime.

Is there a potential end in sight, OYBBK, or has the jet stream taken up residence over us for the foreseeable future?

Mirage · 31/01/2014 18:40

Marne, the poor farmer doesn't have any choice when he does his muck spreading. There are EU rules that it can only be done in a very short window of time, which is why there are times when the countryside absolutely stinks-everyone has to do it at the same time.

It doesn't help you though,it does sound awful.Sad

Marne · 31/01/2014 20:17

Just annoying that the seem to always do it before it chucks it down with rain, not sure why it was going across our road though, our road doesn't usually flood but today it was poring across the main road into our road ( maybe a drain blocked somewhere ), seemed to clear when the rain slowed down for a bit.

digerd · 01/02/2014 07:02

SE.
Rained heavily all night long again but seems to have stopped now. +4.6 degrees.

weather warnings

I'm afraid there is no change to the outlook. Next big weather system comes in Monday. Then as for Wednesday - severe gales are looking likely. Really nasty from northern england down with a squeeze in the south. It's a day to keep an eye on and perhaps start to consider travel plans. Watch out for early met warnings.

No real pattern change through mid month. A high pressure does try and establish over Europe but sadly the Atlantic bats it away.

My own weather station beats the January record for record rainfall ever measured in England and Wales. I'm up over 180mm (lost a few mm due to Internet failure which I will need to add in by hand but fortunately lovely neighbour keeps a back up record himself) previous record was in 1948 at 176.8mm

Some concerns today with the gales this afternoon and evening too.

They're evacuating villages down here Shock

mankyscotslass · 01/02/2014 10:49

Bright cold and crisp here this morning. Ice on cars but the pavements were ok. It's sunny but breezy now. It looks lovely out, and I am stuck in work 7-7. I hope everyone in warning areas stay safe x

LadyCelia · 01/02/2014 10:53

I'm really feeling for my family over in the Isle of Man at the moment, they have bad gales, spring tides & storm surges which their met office think will top the ones at the beginning of January - the flooding then was dreadful & it looks like today will be the worst yet.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/02/2014 11:02

Drove through a scary flood earlier it was going so fast
