western coastal flooding could be an issue again this weekend. High tides with strong/gale force onshore winds.

AF - I'm in! I'm waiting for the lynching mob when they announce hosepipe bans this summer!

AnyFucker · 28/01/2014 10:11

Ha ! @ hosepipe bans. I predict May for those.

HesterShaw · 28/01/2014 11:54

No. It's going to rain forever

pigsinmud · 28/01/2014 12:27

Walked the dog in SUNSHINE earlier, however normal activity has resumed as it is now raining!

LostInWales · 28/01/2014 12:59

Walked the dogs in syphilitic pissing icy rain earlier but thanks for sharing anyway schilke Wink.

AnyFucker · 28/01/2014 13:06

"Syphilitic rain" sounds quite bad

pigsinmud · 28/01/2014 13:19

Ah sorry LostInWales. It was such a novelty that I had to share. If it makes you feel better, I am about to feed the chickens in the rain!

HesterShaw · 28/01/2014 13:44

We've had sun this morning. As well as driving rain and hail, obviously.

Syphilitic rain does sound the pits though

Helenagrace · 28/01/2014 13:47

Apocalyptic hailstorms here in Sussex, alternating with the inevitable torrential rain.

Hosepipe and ban are not allowed to exist in the same sentence until 2015!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/01/2014 15:07

I dont think I can stress how bad things are looking at the moment for parts of the south and southwest. Weeks cummulation for friday on could easily see 100mm+, the average for the whole of Feburary in the SW is about 90mm, so you can see the issue.

High tides this weekend are only going to exacerbate things.

Oh no Sad

HesterShaw · 28/01/2014 15:50

Bugger. All those full streams running down the valleys being backed up by the high tides.

This is really dreadful. I remember a poor woman in Mevagissey who'd taken on the pub near the harbour in December '12, and in her second week she was flooded three times on consecutive high tides. It's going to happen again isn't it? No official warnings yet. Hopefully things will change

pigsinmud · 28/01/2014 15:53

Oh. Another lie-in on Saturday as football matches get postponed.

Marne · 28/01/2014 16:07

Saw the weather forecast this morning Sad, Friday does look pretty horrendous doesn't it? I am hoping the forecast will change but chances are they wont, looks like I will be stocking up on food in case we cant get out of the village again, I feel so sorry for all the people who have had their houses flooded already ,they must hate watching the weather forecasts in fear of more rain. Yesterday I was hoping the forecast would be for cold and snow for Friday so am slightly pissed of with the forecast of more rain for the sw.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2014 16:41

AF can I come in your ark? Dd and ds too. Maybe dp. He's a builder so might come in handy?!

Was out in the rain earlier. Yuck!

Dreading the next few weeks I feel so sorry for those already flooded Sad

magimedi · 28/01/2014 17:05

Just never bloody stops - rained all day - hard- here near Eastbourne, but no hail - yet!

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2014 18:02

schilke we have had match after match postponed for the DSs. I think they will be playing until August to catch up. Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2014 18:05

Dp has been playing football every week! Their pitch is on a slope but worst case scenario they just go on the local astro turf pitch Confused

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2014 18:09

We have had flooded astro. Confused

Apparently we could use the pitch but it would be unusable afterwards. The forecast from now until the weekend looks as if there will be no football this weekend.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2014 18:37

Where are you sparkling? I'm beginning to think dp is lying and going to the pub Wink

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2014 18:39

Worcestershire Spotty. Smile

Helenagrace · 28/01/2014 19:08

Oh gosh kitten that does sound grim. There'll be spring tides this weekend too I think so already high.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2014 19:13

Quite a way away from us! Tbf I think the astro turf pitch is in doors.

pigsinmud · 28/01/2014 19:50

My boys play for different local teams and they played last weekend, but that was the first week in ages. Training cancelled again tonight as it was rather heavy earlier and pitch was flooding. The water is just sitting on top as the ground is saturated.

Some weekends they could have played, but as someone else said, it would just completely trash the pitch.
