It was chucking it down here earlier (berkshire/hampshire/surrey border) but not sleety, just heavy rain. Will see what happens overnight.

HesterShaw · 26/01/2014 23:30

I thought it sounded windy. We had 67mph this afternoon, I've just seen Shock That's nearly as windy as it has been through this whole winter.

SpottyTeacakes · 27/01/2014 06:58

Weather warning for rain for us tomorrow.

Ice for today but don't think it's frozen yet. Oybbk why is it that the temperature drops when the sun comes up? Eg I left for work at six the other day and it was fine. By the time my colleagues were coming in at 7:30 ish there was black ice everywhere.

digerd · 27/01/2014 07:22

+1 at 02.50,now +2. No frost, wind or rain atm. SE

Meglet · 27/01/2014 07:35

North hampshire.

I haven't woken up to a winter wonderland Sad .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 08:16

A winter wonderland wasnt expected Meglet, any snow showers over night (and I dont think there were any in your area) wouldnt have settled,

spotty teacakes, I've thought about that a lot as I've observed it in my own temperature graphs. I've not come to any conclusion other than it continues to drop as the sun isnt yet adding enough heat input to compensate for the continued radiation from the ground. But the curve on my graphs doesnt quite support that neatly.

todays warnings

No snow this morning but have seen photos on fb of snow last night settling, sadly I was asleep and it was followed by rain so nothing here this morning.

HesterShaw · 27/01/2014 09:51

Won't it be nice getting to Spring and NOT having a bastard weather warning every day? Though in my paranoid moments, I wonder if this weather pattern will continue for ever :(

digerd · 27/01/2014 11:21

SE.
Rather spring-like atm but was horribly damp cold earlier. Sunshine makes all the difference Smile

GloriaSmud · 27/01/2014 14:03

This has just been on our local news ~ CCTV footage of when lightning hit a Leicester temple on Saturday afternoon.

There are also some pictures from the Saturday storm in the Daily Mail, (along with some overnight snow pictures) here, including the aftermath of the possible tornado at Nuneaton (need to scroll down a bit to see the pictures.)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 19:17

The mail might be crap at forecasting and reporting but they are very talented at collecting stunning photos. What a collection!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 19:22

oh hell. Long term forecast on gfs is for so much rain in early Feb its unbelievable. Really really bad. Perhaps snow for a bit, but predominantly rain.

LostInWales · 27/01/2014 19:29

I have to put my extreme DM hate aside when they have weather photo's OYBBK. I was reading the article imagining your blood pressure going up at the number of times they put 'mini tornado'.

I am refusing to see your second post, not true, not true, not true

ChippingInWadesIn · 27/01/2014 19:31

Bloody hell, if you are saying that it must be A LOT of rain.

I hope that people are able to barricade against the worst of it or at least move their precious things to higher ground and stay safe.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 19:41

I had to keep breathing and restrain my rant which nearly burst out! the term mini tornado makes me think of little knee high jobbies.

Its really bad chipping. 5th looks like snow - but that will change. Right til the middle of the month as far as the model goes it is heavy rain followed by heavy rain from the 4th to the 13th. Prior to that lots of rain but with drier and maybe snowier bits,

GloriaSmud · 27/01/2014 19:48

LostinWales ~ the DM do have great photos when it comes to weather and science~type events. (I was also having a Smile at them going on about 'mini tornados', I was going to describe the Nuneaton event as one but changed it just before posting ~ I didn't want to incur the wrath of OYBBK anyone by putting the words 'mini tornado!')

A poster on met-monkey mentioned the forecast for February this afternoon. Not what's needed at all Sad

HesterShaw · 27/01/2014 19:58

Oh no! :(

Poor Somerset.

Poor everyone.

What on earth is going on? Say it doesn't stop? I'm getting alarmed now. Say the ground turns to slurry and all the trees fall down?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 21:28

Eventually it will stop but I kind of feel the same way. It is just far far too much.

OP posts:
ChippingInWadesIn · 27/01/2014 21:39

Thanks OYBBK - I'm just braving up to ringing a friend who really doesn't need this news, but does need to be prepared :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/01/2014 21:41

:( thinking of you.

OP posts:
ChippingInWadesIn · 27/01/2014 22:09

Thanks. Really not what they needed to hear, still the messenger is still alive with wellies at the ready :(

AnyFucker · 28/01/2014 00:08

I am building my Ark as we speak/ Anyone in with me ? I have already seen Jesus on another thread so Moses should be around here somewhere...

Sparklingbrook · 28/01/2014 07:02

Sad How can there be any more rain? It was throwing it down all night again. Sad

digerd · 28/01/2014 07:43
