I want snow Grin. More rain for us on Sunday, have had enough of the wet stuff, I want frozen stuff now.

GloriaSmud · 10/01/2014 09:33

It'll be weird if there is a a sort of 'snowmageddon' next weekend because it was about the 18th January last year, that it turned cold and we had a similar snowmageddon situation, with schools closing early/nightmare situation on the roads. I remember it as it's DD2's birthday on the 20th and we went sledging on her birthday. She's now hoping for snow again this year!

Slight frost on the car this morning ~ down to 1.7C overnight.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2014 09:34

No- no snowmageddon.

GloriaSmud · 10/01/2014 09:53

Not even just a little one, Sparkling? Just overnight on a Saturday so we can at least say we've had a bit of snow this winter.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2014 09:58

Acceptable snow scenarios for Sparkling Gloria-

6 foot deep, falling overnight.
Anything less must fall after 4.30pm on a Friday and be gone by 7.50am on the Monday.

Grin

Grin We'll make it so and book it in the diary along with acceptable times of the day when snow is allowed to fall.
Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2014 13:12

Excellent Gloria. I have pre-ordered my weather. Grin

Meglet · 10/01/2014 14:04

We can do snowmageddon next weekend. DD has a party in the afternoon but it's walkable.

Sparklingbrook · 10/01/2014 14:15

That suits me Meglet-after Friday around 11pm after the panto though?

Geckos48 · 10/01/2014 15:07

its had a few showers in salisbury today.

I am hoping I can get my car out of the lane tomorrow morning!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 10/01/2014 17:45

I want weekend snow. I am a teacher, weekday snow is too complicated as my school does not close.

Meglet · 10/01/2014 18:42

OYBBK how far south is the cold (snow?!) likely to spread? I'm getting my hopes up but I bet it misses Hampshire.

It did occur to to me though that snow on saturated ground is going to cause more flood when it melts, isn't it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2014 18:56

Its def a case of dont count chickens and all that. Looking less like snow now I'm afraid.

Nooooo. Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2014 19:08

sorry.

Really havent been able to understand all of the medias enthusiasm for forecasting snow for next week. The possibility is there but it certainly hasnt been a certainty by any means. Even the more respectable outlets have been talking like its a certainty.

Overheard a old man talking in my local shop and he seems to think we are getting rain for most of next week and then it will freeze next weekend and snow. Not sure where he got this info from?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up for snow, chances are we will get more rain.

Geckos48 · 10/01/2014 22:17

I am SO confused, our local paper is reporting a hard frost over night and lots of ice on the road. The Met office says there is a yellow warning of ice but also that the lowest temp will be 6 degrees!

I am so confused!

oricella · 11/01/2014 05:53

well, very icy here early morning. Walked out of the house to the taxi and went flying onto the ground. It's thankfully a bit warmer at the airport, so hopefully runway is clear.

GloriaSmud · 11/01/2014 07:21

No frost here (Leicester) 3.6C at the moment ~ looks like it's going to be a nice day.

digerd · 11/01/2014 07:48

Clear skies atm but +5. Assume it clouded over in the night otherwise we'd have had much lower temps and a frost. It is what I wished for, thoughSmile

MiserableJanuaryJerseySpud · 11/01/2014 09:17

Clear skies here in Jersey. But nothing like snow or ice or even very cold

mankyscotslass · 11/01/2014 10:21

No frost overnight here in Greater Manchester, we had a heavy sleet shower about 8.30, and it tried very hard to snow. It's raining and grey here now. DD is relieved because it is too wet to take her out on her bycicle(part of her physio regime) and she hates it.

digerd · 11/01/2014 11:57

SE.
It had rained in the night, but all day so far has been blue sky and sunnySmile

Oh dear, only +1.8 out and had to put the heating up. Hope it clouds over and warms up in the nightHmm

SpottyTeacakes · 11/01/2014 18:44

Brrr I'm going out tonight. I never go out. I'm going to freeze!
