North Hampshire here. The wind sounds fierce Sad.

I'm living in fear of my fence falling down, it was only fixed last week.

JillJ72 · 18/12/2013 21:58

Windy got up here during the afternoon, it is now absolutely lashing down!! North Bucks.

openerofjars · 18/12/2013 23:11

Round the frame, or could be that some of the pointing has come away from the lintel. Honestly, it was scary. It's all stopped now though so it was clearly blowing through.

Its0kToBeMe · 18/12/2013 23:23

Horribly gusty here. I'm on the suffolk coast.

Perihelion · 19/12/2013 00:16

Pishing down earlier this evening in Edinburgh. Wind's been increasing with gusts of 53mph.

digerd · 19/12/2013 07:11

S.Herts

Heard the rain in the night but didn't seem anything unusual.
Must go out and check when it's light.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 19/12/2013 07:37

We were getting gusts around our frame the other week, We found that we need to seal it and have used an outdoor sealant designed for the job.

Things calmed down after 9pm here (Leicester) last night.
BBC report on the disruption around the country. One man is missing after falling overboard off a cargo ship moored on the River Trent.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 19/12/2013 10:46

I hope they find the poor bloke ok.

I had no idea that train drivers carried hacksaws! Very enterprising of him to try and have a go himself. A determined bloke!

Poor bloke & his family :(

I didn't see this thread last night - too busy with boring housey crap.

I got home (in the central south east) at about 8.30, it was really really windy and chucking it down. Lovely day today though Xmas Smile

Silent night, holy night all is calm, all is bright...

GloriaSmud · 19/12/2013 13:39

Was quite a stormy night over in Ireland as well. Am Shock at the state of the railway station in Cork.

BlackeyedShepherdswatchsheep · 19/12/2013 18:31

tree fell on a car in the w mids last night.

we had a very heavy burst of rain. it was like someone was pouring water down the windows.

digerd · 19/12/2013 19:11

S.Herts.
Just heard terrifying thunder rumbles like I have never heard before and now it is raining. Confused.

digerd · 19/12/2013 19:15

Thunder at 6 degrees - it's gone madShock

TheGreatHunt · 19/12/2013 19:29

We've just had passing thunder - incredible loud!! (London)

feelingdizzy · 19/12/2013 19:44

I live on the north west coast of Ireland, the storm last night was incredible we lost power last night at 8pm have just got it back.the kids were off school. It is supposed to be stormy again tomorrow, we always have windy winters, but this seems to be really bad.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 19/12/2013 20:42

got caught by the thunder too! was a nice surprise :)Smile

openerofjars · 19/12/2013 20:57

Sleet here in S.Yorks. I feel so sorry for anyone who has to be out in this crappy weather.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 20/12/2013 00:09

I think the thunder storm might have been a precipitating factor in the collapse of the Apollo roof happening at that time.

I wondered that OYMLK.

ChubbyKitty · 20/12/2013 03:54

It absolutely shat it down the other night and I thought of you kitten. I don't remember now why I didn't post about it, and I've got a screwed up sleeping pattern so can't remember if it was Wednesday or Tuesday night.

But it was also very gusty. I lost my sky signal Sad

Tonight is eerily clear so I'm snuggled away pretending it's not happening because it's creepy Blush

youarewinning · 20/12/2013 06:35

We had hailstones here in South Hampshire about 5.30 yesterday evening. That was a surprise I can tell you!

digerd · 20/12/2013 07:10

This morning it is 0 degrees but no snow. Heard the rain in the night again, but skies must have cleared later.

DoItTooBabyJesus · 20/12/2013 07:39

A proper frost here in the midlands!

sewingandcakes · 20/12/2013 07:45

We had some snow (in between lots of rain) here in Rossendale yesterday at about 3-5pm. Not pretty snow that stuck to the ground sadly, but bitterly cold and wet snow that made me glad I bought a proper good winter coat this year!
