Lots of standing water here and the wind in the last hour has been scary. Rain is easing off at the moment though so perhaps we are through the worst of it for the time being. Lots of reports of trees down and delays on local roads n Plymouth.

LostInWales · 18/12/2013 19:15

Home, phew, they'd gone down a lot in the half an hour we were out (tiny bit disappointed tbh!) tried to get DS1 to video them on my phone but he didn't really get the idea of lifting the phone up above the dashboard so it's mostly black plastic with splash at the top Hmm.

That's the one GloriaSmud that's going to be fun for everyone as it goes across the country.

DownstairsMixUp · 18/12/2013 19:19

No met warnings either for coastal Kent but it's bloomin windy here! Dp's gone to tie some stuff down!

GloriaSmud · 18/12/2013 19:24

DD1 and I got our timings right ~ it's just started raining here.
There's a live webcam (have to get past an annoying advert first) of the seafront at Dawlish here. The sea is looking a little rough!

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 18/12/2013 19:25

The squall line is quite tricky to pick out amongst all the rain isn't it. You can pick it out towards the back (I think)

Deluge of biblical proportions just as I got off the bus on the way home. I got soaked to the bone in the 5 minutes it took me to walk home from the bus stop. It's a bit calmer here now (North Welsh coast, on the Menai Strait) but today has been a little exciting!

GimmeDaBoobehz · 18/12/2013 19:35

Dorset is pretty windy and rainy.

Had an appointment today and had an appointment when the weather was bad last month, why do I always have appointments when the weather is crap?

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 18/12/2013 19:35

My anemometer is reading 35mph which is actually pretty high for it as it doesnt reach met office standard (only 1m above my roof and we are quite urban) so I think the official nearby reading will be about 50mph when it comes out and we arent in the worst of it yet.

I just hope it blows itself out in the next day or two. I'm supposed to be on an airplane on Saturday. I'm a nervous flier at the best of times and I am going to be really miffed if it gets cancelled and/or I struggle getting to the airport.

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 18/12/2013 19:43

Naoko me too. Am a nervous wreck thinking about it!

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 18/12/2013 19:45

Theres a low down on each of the days (as the forecast stands at the moment) on the Christmas thread

Unfortunately its not a great forecast.

Another interactive map for those who like that kind of thing... like me Grin

This shows temperature and wind direction... then hovering on an icon brings up wind speed and clicking brings up more data. Have a play with the settings for Layers. Would be nice to get it to display temp and wind speed as numbers but I can't work out how.

WunderMap

Currently on the Surrey/Berkshire border it is windy and there is rain, as it is lashing at my windows!

pepperrabbit · 18/12/2013 20:08

NE Hants here - very windy and heaving down with rain, quite impressive and we're nowhere near the main event here.

RubySparks · 18/12/2013 20:09

Very windy and heavy rain here, East Scotland near to Edinburgh. Expecting travel disruption again tomorrow, just like last week!

starsandunicorns · 18/12/2013 20:10

SantasComingEarlyHisSackIsFull · 18/12/2013 20:12

It's windy and unbelievably rainy here in North Somerset. The wind nearly lifted me off my feet tonight and I'm no wee scrap Grin

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 18/12/2013 20:17

Something fell over outside. Far too comfy to see what!

PickleFish · 18/12/2013 20:42

I don't like this. I have to fly tomorrow lunchtime :(

TheGreatHunt · 18/12/2013 20:48

Pretty windy and wet here in London!!

openerofjars · 18/12/2013 21:05

The rain is actually coming through my closed double glazed windows here in Sheffield! I've had to put my Christmas cards on a radiator to dry and the window blind is soaking wet: it's currently protecting the tree from getting any wetter as I decided I like the tree more than the blind. Plus, we made gingerbread tree decs today...

But bloody hell, the rain has got through the window! Shock

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 18/12/2013 21:06

That's not great jars! Is it coming round the frame or where the windows open?

youarewinning · 18/12/2013 21:08

Very windy and wet here in Hampshire - yuk!

Helenagrace · 18/12/2013 21:10

Very gusty and some squally rain here on the West Sussex coast. I'm hearing that the exposed section of the A27 as it crosses the river Adur and goes up to the Southwick Tunnel is shut to high sides vehicles. If that's true it's worse than Stormaggedon (that wasn't).

BelleOfTheBorstal · 18/12/2013 21:11

I'm in London. Just got home from work. It is horrendous out there. Don't go outside, peeps, it's not a good experience.

Ememem84 · 18/12/2013 21:18

I have rain and wind. It aounds awful. Glad I'm indoors.
