Another severe storm 2nd/3rd November?

Quite possible I'm afraid.

Very early days in forecasting land but it has been showing in the models for a couple of days already.

GFS takes a deep low across northern scotland which would bring gales (severe??) to southern Scotland and northern England.

ECMWF and UKMO have it less deep but further south and not causing nearly so many issues.

NAVGEM brings possibly severe gales to England

GFS spotted last nights storm very early on and actually wasnt a bad forecast. We need to keep an eye on the situation.

Definitely v windy here in central S England. Not confined to the North at all, this one. I too think it is worse than last week. It is less gusty, more constant sort of a wind.

No way am I going out tonight for the fireworks which is a shame. It is the first time we have missed it in years.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 02/11/2013 18:21

DD and DH are wrapping up to go out to the fireworks. Windy and wet here but pretty mild compared to welsh reports!

4yoniD · 02/11/2013 18:21

Very windy here (Guernsey). Apparently gusting to 48mph in last hour. I can't be the only one with deja vu?

TeWiSavesTheDay · 02/11/2013 18:22

OYBBK you should label it evil chilli jam. With some illustrative drawings. Grin

Mckayz · 02/11/2013 18:22

Just had a big thunder storm here in North Yorkshire.

I thought thunder storms happened when it was hot. It certainly hasn't been hot.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2013 18:34

mckayz you don't need heat for convection which produces storms. not a good time to explain. standing in the pitch black in a howling gale. (why?)

Really strong gusting wind in Leicestershire. It started about 2pm and is far worse than last week.I've just come back from picking up a takeaway and there are already branches down.

Sparklysilversequins · 02/11/2013 18:58

Windy here in London too. No getting out of going to the fireworks though. Kids are set on it.

HenD19 · 02/11/2013 19:00

Really wild and windy in formby Liverpool.

JemimaMuddledUp · 02/11/2013 19:04

West Wales here. Flood warnings for the coastal areas as the waves are incredibly high. A car was hit by a falling tree a few cars in front of DH and DD this afternoon, luckily nobody was hurt. Our power has been off this afternoon.

Monday's storm completely missed us, it seems we aren't so lucky this time.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 02/11/2013 19:18

We have a patch.of snow in our garden and a flooded brook edging towards the house.

FreshWest · 02/11/2013 19:19

Llaregub seems I inadvertently gave away Dylan Thomas secret in my previous post Wink

LostInWales · 02/11/2013 19:20

Got my wind up camping torches at the ready! All the candles I bought for last week have gone in the pumpkins Hmm

timidviper · 02/11/2013 19:33

Am on the coast near Blackpool. We had the thunderstorm earlier and now have high winds and lashing rain.

Although the "great" storm that hit the South passed us by we had a power cut on Tues from 2-8pm and last night we had thick fog. Quite an unusual week really!

FlabbyAdams · 02/11/2013 19:33

Am on the S Wales coast. Its very windy. Loft hatch lifting and banging.
A tree down in the village and reports of lots of trees down locally.
M4 has been closed due to over turned vehicles through the wind.
Roads closed in Bridgend apparently with power cables down.

Seems last weeks storm has finally arrived here.

FreshWest · 02/11/2013 19:36

Yes I read a caravan overturned on it closed between margam and Pyle.

GloriaSmud · 02/11/2013 19:39

Had some good gusts of wind here as well (Leicester) ~ weather station says the strongest was 28mph at 5.18pm.

Reports of storm damage in Wales here.

Augustaprodworthy · 02/11/2013 19:45

Really blowy here in cambs. Worse than last weekend. Not gone to fireworks as too windy and too much faff.

signet · 02/11/2013 19:46

In Berkshire here. Very gusty outside. Just getting ready to go and collect DS from survival camp. He's been camping in the woods in a hammock with scouts and for the first year ever they've had to abandon camp due to the wind.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 02/11/2013 19:52

Waves across the bay at FreshWest and Llareggub.

It's always windy-ish here but it's proper blowing out there today.

ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 02/11/2013 20:02

How were the fireworks OYBBK? Did any of them go ^ or all > ?
