Another severe storm 2nd/3rd November?

Quite possible I'm afraid.

Very early days in forecasting land but it has been showing in the models for a couple of days already.

GFS takes a deep low across northern scotland which would bring gales (severe??) to southern Scotland and northern England.

ECMWF and UKMO have it less deep but further south and not causing nearly so many issues.

NAVGEM brings possibly severe gales to England

GFS spotted last nights storm very early on and actually wasnt a bad forecast. We need to keep an eye on the situation.

We weren't supposed to get it in S.Herts on the north London border - but we did. Only for an hour from 1.30-2.30 but quiet and sunny afterwards. < I was having a restless 40 winks at the time>

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 02/11/2013 17:11

Yup. We got that too. Poor ds did not even know what it was

oldsilver · 02/11/2013 17:16

Bristol. Wind gradually been picking up throughout the day - definitely up to "never known a night like it" on my scale. Which in real terms is about what it got up to last weekend during the height of "The Storm".

mamicar · 02/11/2013 17:16

in Bridgend. few trees down. and power lines down just up the road from me. my first night out in donkeys years tonight. its not looking good is it. Sad

ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 02/11/2013 17:17

OYBBK - mind your eyes!!! :(

South East (central).

It's windy and cold here. Not raining at the minute, but it was quite heavy earlier - feels/looks quite stormy.

Imnotaslimjim · 02/11/2013 17:23

NW here, near Wigan. Its looking prety grim and the wind is shocking. Been VERY wet on and off and now feels like a storm is brewing :( hope tomorrow isn't too bad

leesmum · 02/11/2013 17:25

Thunder and lightning in Manchester in the last hour, strong winds and lots of rain....lights have been flickering!!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 02/11/2013 17:28

Windy in Dorset. More so than last week! What's occurring OYBBK?

Hope everyone's ok so far.

AtticusMcPlatypus · 02/11/2013 17:29

Cornwall calling! Been up to coast this afternoon and it was incredibly windy - far worse than last week. Its blowing a hoolie outside now with squally rain. Glad I'm inside Smile

Pretty windy here in the middle. We're in a sheltered spot in a valley but it sounds like we're on top of a hill in the middle of Scotland or somewhere equally exposed.

1leggedwobbler · 02/11/2013 17:34

Isle of Man, been windy all day with very heavy, frequent showers coming over. 60mph (Force 9) NW gusts in the forecast for tonight, just hope we don't get any hail because the noise of it on the DD's windows will wake them up so it will be a busy night for me.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 02/11/2013 17:40

East Yorkshire calling- sounding fairly windy here but it often is- we're about 300 metres from the sea. Smile

However, as I finished typing that sentence, an extra large gust whistled down the chimney and around the outside of the house- sounds like it's picking up...

Greensleeves · 02/11/2013 17:45

Exeter here, bit breezy but nothing special. Last week was a damp squib too (obviously don't want people in danger, but we do like a nice dramatic storm!)

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 02/11/2013 17:48

Manchester calling. It's grim at the moment - wet and really windy. I'm sure I heard a rumble of thunder before and the lights have definitely flickered once of twice. I can confirm that we will not be venturing the a firework display tonight :(

LostInWales · 02/11/2013 17:54

Very windy here on the West Wales coast. I am getting the raised eyebrow from teen DS1 because I wouldn't let him out with his mates last weekend but he's been out all day today and it is far windier. Nevermind Wink. My favourite wind watching website has the wind at 49-66 mph here which is impressive. The most fun watching the wind a woman can have, I can't remember who linked to it first last week but thank you.

LostInWales · 02/11/2013 17:55

Have your chilly fingers improved?

duckyfuzz · 02/11/2013 18:02

We got absolutely drenched about 2 hrs ago in co durham, hail, wind, rain the works

oldsilver · 02/11/2013 18:07

Sad I am very disappointed, we are not going to Fireworks - it has started to hammer down now, as well as the big gusts - not condusive to standing around going "ooh" and "aah" in sadly.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2013 18:09

out at our local firework display waiting for the show. fingers now nicely numb. astonished they are holding it given the safety fence is being blown flat by the wind. weve put ourselves out of the line of any potential strays.

I thought that fire brigade were strongly advising against fireworks ?

FreshWest · 02/11/2013 18:14

Just west of Swansea here buggerall and its v windy and heavy rain. There's a flood warning for Penclawdd according to bbc website.

It's most definitely worse here than last week. I didn't bother last week but have just dug out candles and matches.

duckyfuzz · 02/11/2013 18:15

Oldsilver we've cancelled going to fireworks too, sitting in front of fire with wine and crisps makes up for it though!

Boilyfishbag · 02/11/2013 18:15

Wind is tearing through the trees and howling down the chimney here in Gloucestershire. Time to light the fire, and settle in for the night!
