I'm keeping a pretty close eye on developments for Monday. some of the models (in particular gfs) are showing a deep low developing over England, with the majority of the gfs runs taking the worst of the wind over the south.

Massive if. But if the weather were to pan out as those models are suggesting it would be a damaging storm, especially given the trees still being in leaf. I'd keep an eye on the met office early warnings page and if they start warning about it then it would be a good weekend to tidy the garden before you lose your stuff Wink

I'll update as things become clearer.

Whabylon - hard to know at the moment. Exact track could either have you in the thick of it or missing the worst. Be prepared Grin

I have a bloody great copper beech within striking distance of my house. I'm in trouble aren't I?

drinkyourmilk · 25/10/2013 21:01

Thanks Pesto.
I shall get the camping stove out and air the extra duvets then. Sigh.

Hopefully the Met Office will issue a Red Warning for wind if required. The first time they did this was for Hurricane Bawbag in 2011. This shut schools, suspended a lot of public transport and flights and the police advised people not to travel.

If I remember the red warning was only issued the night before. I think it being half term could potentially cause problems with people travelling because they have plans.......

tenementmonster · 25/10/2013 21:20

hurricane bawbag?
Grin
I missed that one!

Eek. Am meant to be taking overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo on Sunday night...what r the chances?.

magicscares · 25/10/2013 21:29

I am meant to be travelling to the south coast for the weekend, driving home on Sunday. Do you think we are safe til Monday, or is it best to cancel?

SpookyTeacakes · 25/10/2013 21:33

What time Sunday magic?

I think lots of ferries are being cancelled? I think if the storm doesn't hit is it'll be hitting the channel and France? I could be wrong...

Meglet · 25/10/2013 21:38

We're meant to be going to our local huge soft play on monday morning. Knowing what the building is like (bit shabby) and the fact it's already a little leaky I'm half wondering if it will open.

We're in Cardiff but will be travelling to Poole tomorrow. Will we have a roof to come back to?

magicscares · 25/10/2013 21:53

Spooky, we were hoping to make the most of the trip arrive Early tomorrow and drive home to Herts Sunday evening. We've paid for our accommodation Saturday night but I'm tempted to cancel and just stay home and get prepared. Would that be a massive overreaction?

Thesouthernwindisblowing · 25/10/2013 21:54

Going to devon from london on Monday. Will this be doable?

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 25/10/2013 22:03

Magic you'll be ok if you complete your journey Sunday.

thethreeblondies · 25/10/2013 22:06

South Somerset here, DH has cleared garden and strengthened fences........................but not a lot he can do with re the fact that I'm 6 days overdue with dc3, I guess I get him to read up on "delivering your baby at home" and get camping lights/stove/clean towels at the ready Grin

Mum2toomany · 25/10/2013 22:06

Is it going to hit london? Which areas? West? East?

TheDoctrineOfAnyFucker · 25/10/2013 22:08

Very pleased we're travelling back Sunday not Monday from Wales now!!

georgedawes · 25/10/2013 22:12

friend is meant to be coming to us in N Derbyshire on Sun evening, is it likely to be bad? The wind is v strong here tonight and I want to cancel her if it is, don't want her to be caught in anything extreme.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 25/10/2013 22:13
