TORRO have issued a tornado watch for central and southern England and Wales.

Which is quite a large area really. Tornado watches mean that the expected weather in conducive to tornadogenisis rather than they are expected but nevertheless, it could be interesting :) hail, thunder and severe gusts are also possible.

Morning!
Great timing Gloria Grin

Rain started on and off at 4:30am then we had thunder at first light.

Matilda, was there any damage?

Lots of rain and a lovely double rainbow (and a science lesson as the DCs wanted to know about triple rainbows) but not much wind.

JourneyThroughLife · 20/10/2013 08:46

We had a huge thunderstorm at around 8am this morning and now torrential rain..... The newsman said "showers" but it doesn't look like that here....

curlew · 20/10/2013 08:49

Raining but boring here in Kent. Ds up and panicking because football was cancelled last week because of a waterlogged pitch and he's so scared it's going to happen again today Sad

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 20/10/2013 08:58

We had thunder last night. I am in the NE. Wasn't expecting it to get here.

Just seen a report on FB about wintery showers up north today and this week. Is that right OYBBK?

pinkoneblueone · 20/10/2013 09:19

There was a thunderstorm about 5-6am in Gosport it woke my little one she creeped in beside me. I am hoping that the weather is ok for the times I cycle to and from work (we don't have a car) I will really freak out if I'm ever caught out cycling In that weather :(

FunkyBoldRibena · 20/10/2013 09:26

With wellies funky?

Nope - walking boots.

Rain off and on here; so are delaying lottie til it clears up a little.

No thunder that I heard last night. I am very central.
The wind and rain about 1am was amazing though. Thought the windows were going to blow in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2013 09:29

It actually looks like above average temps til later on in the week up in the north. Temps in lowland towns may not go below 10c even at night. Cooling down from Thursday.

I do rate raintoday very much. I reckon it's the best of the commercial sites.

OYBBK - Blush the neighbours cats keep weeing in/on the pots the plants are in, so I decided they'd just have to stay outside. There was clearly not even the slightest breath of wind here last night as they were still upright and I know how little wind it takes for them to hurl themselves at the ground. It rained but it didn't pour - no thunder etc. It's sunny over here this morning (but I can't open the front door because of the smell of cat pee!! Grrr They're moving in a few days - I hope they take the cats with them!!

EdwiniasRevenge · 20/10/2013 10:03

What's the forecast for central London for the week?

Wellies and umbrellas or bikinis and flip flop???

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2013 10:06

Shows how localised storms can be chipping Grin you had a near miss.

It's a case of raincoat and flip flops! Warm (for the time of year) and wet with more thunderstorms possible.

EdwiniasRevenge · 20/10/2013 10:14

Hmm...raincoats and flipflops in London...trendy..

But I'll leave my straighteners at home (more important)

Thanks

The trendiest people are the ones who are ahead of the game.

Just think how proud you will feel when the look catches on and everyone is at it. (Though don't blame yourself for the escalator accidents that ensue)

the sun is shining brightly and the washing is shouting to be done. where is this rain?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2013 10:44

All over in showers. Looks like measles on the radar :) if you are in Lincolnshire it looks clear for a little while!

If you've got an ipad raintoday do a great app so you can check the radar before you put it out and then dash in and out as necc.

Big storm in Surrey this morning around 7am but now bright sunshine. Wonder if the local rivers coped with the downpour.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2013 11:40

Anyone from Hayling Island? Looks like there was a potential tornadic event this morning.

I've started a new thread about the possible tornadic event. If you see anyone on the boards talking about it please can you point them to:
