TORRO have issued a tornado watch for central and southern England and Wales.

Which is quite a large area really. Tornado watches mean that the expected weather in conducive to tornadogenisis rather than they are expected but nevertheless, it could be interesting :) hail, thunder and severe gusts are also possible.

Wind has got up a lot in the last hour here (Exmouth) and the caravan we're in is creaking in quite a scary way! I've been watching a great wodge (highly technical meteorological term!) Coming up from France on rain today.co.uk and think we're in for another stormy night

Perihelion · 22/10/2013 22:25

Still no exciting weather........Envy

The (new) extent of that Torro map does look a bit worrying. The MetOffice rainfall radar shows another band of rain coming up SW to NE, which shows the path that the weather system(s) are trending.

It depends on how well I sleep whether I notice if we get a double dose of the flash/bang stuff.

pinkkoala - I hope your DH gets home ok. Driving in such intense rain is challenging enough, without having to deal with the numpties.

Meglet · 22/10/2013 22:33

I'm not a fan of exciting weather. It usually ends in me having to call a roofing company to repair something Hmm.

HesterShaw · 22/10/2013 22:39

Good God! DH and I have been getting ready for his meteorology lecture and there's a low sitting south of Greenland which looks like it will drop to 956mb on Friday. I have never seen pressure that low Shock

NoComet · 22/10/2013 22:40

Yes DH did have to take the gazebo down in the dark, stupid weather.

Back to flood warnings for the Wye etc near Hereford, Winter has began.

youarewinning · 22/10/2013 22:43

OYBBK I'll appoint myself South Hants Coast weather reporter for the night Grin So far some of the storm has created pink flashes, very blue and has made it look like daylight outside. Winds seem to have come from different directions as the rain has come in and gone again.

All quiet atm.

However.................... DS has finally fallen asleep in my bed, does not often sleep through anyway so I suspect I'll be awake 1) due to the fact it's the sofa for me and 2) because if he wakes and it's a storm I doubt he'll be so kind as to get back to sleep Grin

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 22:48

Ill look at that tomorrow Hester.

Youarewinning splendid! It does look potent tonight.

Going to catch some sleep while I can. Sweet dreams all.

pinkkoala · 22/10/2013 22:51

Dh just in, said roads were grim.
might go to bed before the next lot due, any ideas when we will get next lot.

youarewinning · 22/10/2013 22:55

I'm not sure splendid is the word I'd use Grin Potent storms + noise sensitive DS with AS = disaster Grin

Have got ipad charging and headphones ready though!

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 22/10/2013 22:55

That was an amazing storm! Amazing lightning - it 'stayed' in the sky ages and was pink (OYBBK/OYWWW) what'sthat all about (and remember who you are talking to!! Small words - and s l o w l y please!!). I was hoping to get some sleep tonight (none last night, not a flipping wink!) but hey... if another storm is in the offing Grin

I'm still GrinGrin I love 'strong' weather Grin

SuperiorCat · 22/10/2013 23:15

youarewinning - I feel your pain, 15yo DS is on a camp bed in our room as he is very noise sensitive (also ASD)

mummylin2495 · 23/10/2013 00:45

Pouring with rain here in Dorset and very windy

mummylin2495 · 23/10/2013 00:51

Oh my god the rain is horrendous and the wind is really noisy.

ScreamsInTheNight · 23/10/2013 04:28

Anyone up and listening to the wind bee rain? An in London and it sounds amazing, trees are bent double!

ScreamsInTheNight · 23/10/2013 04:35

Wind AND rain, not a giant bee. There appears to be a river running down the road outside.

Now I want the pink lightning please!

digerd · 23/10/2013 06:57

Don't know what the time was in the middle of last night, but I was woken up with wind and rain lashing on my windows and flat roof extension - twice in the night.
Not raining atm. Feel cold too and put the heating on.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 23/10/2013 06:57

No t&l from the overnight lot for us but it was quite a wild and wooly night with the rain and wind.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 23/10/2013 07:01

I'll do a thread on Mondays potential when I'm more awake. Possibly a bit too exciting if the models verify.

digerd · 23/10/2013 07:15

I'm past the age where I want excitement. A lovely contented peaceful life is what I need Smile. But this year I've been the target of gremlins grrrr.
Now will it be raining again at 09.15 as I have a 5 minute walk in my dance clothes to get to the hall?Hmm

NK5BM3 · 23/10/2013 07:17

East kent here. And vvv windy. Big trees are 'moving' quite a lot!! Argh.

youarewinning · 23/10/2013 07:25

Windy and rain here. Possibly few rumbles in the distance but no t and l afaik.

GeekLove · 23/10/2013 07:33

We had an awesome downpour in Coventry at 20.00 last night. I could not see the end of my garden 10m away. Am intrigued to see what I will find during the school run.

GeekLove · 23/10/2013 07:35

Was clear but with a cumulonimbus in the east.
