TORRO have issued a tornado watch for central and southern England and Wales.

Which is quite a large area really. Tornado watches mean that the expected weather in conducive to tornadogenisis rather than they are expected but nevertheless, it could be interesting :) hail, thunder and severe gusts are also possible.

I do like the mild temperatures, but not the tropical sized weeds which are loving it far too much. Can't do much weeding due to weather and aching body/legs so they are taking over. The Day of the Triffids keeps coming to mind < exasperation face>.
Sorry for those of you having tropical storms. So far we have been spared the storm winds.
My little furry princess dog has stirred and it is not raining. Aah, she's lying on her back wriggling - oh no she's looking at the front door now and I'm still in pjs. Grin

Little furry dog and I got rained on coming back at 10.15 . I was in a rain jacket with hood, but she wasn't and she didn't look happySad

GloriaSmud · 22/10/2013 18:50

We had heavy rain this morning but it brightened up this afternoon and we're having quite a nice dry spell atm. Just seen the weather forecast though and it looks like we're in for some thundery stuff overnight.

alcibiades · 22/10/2013 19:39

Cracking storm here in southern Hampshire. Just lost Sky signal.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/10/2013 19:40

I'm in East Dorset, alcibiades. It's great!

Envy

It is possible that the odd tornado might spin up out of this lot too.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 19:51

Looks like there may possibly have been one in Walsall on Sunday too. Anyone know anything about it?

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 19:58

Can I ask people along the south coast to be especially aware please and report any damage or excitement. thanks :)

officelady · 22/10/2013 20:03

Mother of all thunderstorms happening here right now (nr Fareham in Hampshire). Bloody annoying because we had just sat down to watch the GBBO final - can't hear the TV over the thunder and the dog barking!!

bundaberg · 22/10/2013 20:05

urgh, nothing exciting has happened here at all.

i am quite upset by this, i love a nice storm!

all we've had is rain rain rain rain rain

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/10/2013 20:05

It's all gone quiet in East Dorset now. Sad

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:11

Just saw the most amazing purple lightning!

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:14

And again. Can't hear thunder though.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:15

(Slightly reminiscent of the war of the worlds movie)

alcibiades · 22/10/2013 20:15

That didn't last very long, thank goodness, though it was exciting. The "thank goodness" is because the lights flickered a few times, and if they went, then by the time I'd found a torch or candle, my dinner would have gone cold. (Yeah, priorities!)

A great deal of rain - the road resembled a river.

I hope we don't get a tornado. The house opposite is undergoing a massive refit, and there's scaffolding covering over the roof. On that are corrugated metal sheets; although I'm pretty sure that it's safe under normal wind conditions, I'd have my doubts about the fixing method being able to withstand a tornado.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:17

It wold be pretty darn unlucky alci!

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:21

Proper storm now.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:24

Bucketing Grin

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:25

Pink lightning now overhead. Yay!!!

alcibiades · 22/10/2013 20:30

alcibiades · 22/10/2013 20:35

You might get lucky, bundaberg. I'm a bit puzzled by the MetOffice displays of rainfall versus lightning, because the lightning is showing up mostly to the west of the rainband. (Which doesn't tie in with the torrential rain coinciding with the lightning here.) But it could be that the lightning is on its way to you.

OhYouWickedWickedWitch · 22/10/2013 20:38

Neighbours just knocked. They've lost all telly, Internet and phone. We haven't. Phew! Mind you, my Internet is connected through a UPS and I've unplugged my phone and tv.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 22/10/2013 20:39

Massive storm here (East Hants), started about half an hour with overhead thunder and horizontal, torrential rain, which eased after 5 mins. Distant thunder and lightning still going on.

youarewinning · 22/10/2013 20:40

I'm also south hants - on the coast!!!! We've got a cracker that keeps moving away and then coming back for good measure.
I'm loving it - my DS with ASD not so much Grin

youarewinning · 22/10/2013 20:42

officelady I'm there too Grin it was great how it didn't move on until the wall of rain pushed it through!
