Keeping a beady weather eye on Thurs 25th

Will it break down or won't it......

Some of the models are going for a potentially thunderstormy break down on the 25th. (don't fear hot weather lovers, if this happens the heat may well return after a few days).

There is a small chance of things happening sooner than that - on Monday, but I'm not convinced by the models suggesting that.

Will keep things updated here.

That one is a pretty good summary johnworf (much better than you previous link, even though the express are even worse for ridiculous weather reports)

Peter, nobody would pay them if they said they didn't know, but the met office are getting better at expressing uncertainty.

Gah, knew the nice weather wouldnt hold for us going down to England on Wed :(

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2013 16:48

Right. I am putting the patio set and BBQ back in the shed this minute. Angry

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 21/07/2013 19:31

It's still quite hot here on the South Coast but I've bought some summer clothes so it will be raining pretty soon.

johnworf · 21/07/2013 21:39

I'm following the thunderstorm thread on the UK Weather Forecast website. It's tracking thunderstorms at the mo.

You have to sign up (free) to join the forum. V interesting as the storms move in.

So down here in Cornwall, my question is:

Do I need to bring the damp washing in off the line tonight or should it be safe to leave to dry tomorrow? Grin

TwasBrillig · 21/07/2013 23:22

Thunder and lightening and wind here on the south coast. No rain yet though. I'm hot! Will it be wet tomorrow . . I

TwasBrillig · 21/07/2013 23:46

Lots of pain but its still hot!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/07/2013 00:06

We have a bit of rain and some piss poor thunder and lightning.

snorris · 22/07/2013 00:10

We've just had one hell of a storm pass over. Proper earth shaking thunder, it's still grumbling on but not as violently. I would have posted earlier but it took out the mobile signal!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/07/2013 00:14

Oooh where are you snorris?

I love a good storm.

snorris · 22/07/2013 00:18

Dorset. It woke me up and I am renowned for my ability to sleep through anything! Shock Grin I was trying to watch from bed it as we are in a bungalow and the main bedroom has french windows onto the garden but it is in the wrong direction.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 22/07/2013 06:37

I'm in Dorset too but it sounded very far away. Massive gaps between the thunder and lightning.

I've just had a look out of the window and it looks hazy but there is definitely some sun. Smile

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 22/07/2013 06:38

Pouring with rain in Watford! how lovely. My water butt will fill up nicely.

SpottyTeacakes · 22/07/2013 06:44

Blue skies here in Sussex. Looks like it's going to be the last hot day for a while

TwasBrillig · 22/07/2013 06:51

So was it just Dorset that got the storm? Seems hot and sunny this morning . . . Will this week just carry on being hot? More storms?

Was impressive last night :-)

SpottyTeacakes · 22/07/2013 06:53

We didn't get a storm twas

snorris · 22/07/2013 06:59

Definitely had the full works over my way Grin . Maybe it came off the sea and over the harbour. Hopefully it won't have damaged the new bridge-it's out of action often enough as it is Wink .

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/07/2013 07:11

Another from Dorset, about 8 miles in land. Tired this morning after some impressive thunder and lightening last night.

Guess who was the idiot who for the first time put washing out on the line! It's about 17 degrees and sunny already though so it will soon dry.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2013 07:39

A few imports from across the channel last night :) and I think a home grown cell too.

Estofex have issued a level 1 alert for storms.

For our storm forecasts I'm going to hand you over to some experts on UKWW It's a really complex situtation and they are way better at it than me. If you've got any questions about what they are saying don't hesitate to ask :) I'm out this morning but back at lunch time for a bit.

this way, this way for storm forecast discussions. I think that we need a more obvious thread title about this week, especially as there is so much potential later on today and into tomorrow.

OMG OYBBK I hope DS1 crossed the Channel ok. The last text he sent said 'Dover is shite'. Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2013 07:47

ermm, they seemed to have developed a surprise storm! Just going to check the radar.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/07/2013 07:51

I think he will be alright :) but might catch a small storm. The main cell in the SE has moved north, leaving clag behind. Theres a large cell to his SW which I think should miss him. It does depend on how the little cell to his west develops. Im hopeful it will be through before he gets there.

He might not have the lovely sunny day I promised though. Bloody storms - they can just pop up anywhere in these circs.
